NOTE:
1
If the sensor does not track the pulse reliably, it may be
incorrectly positioned — or the sensor site may be too
thick, thin, or deeply pigmented to permit appropriate
light transmission. If any of these situations occurs,
reposition the sensor or try another sensor site. If the
sensor site is one that is covered with fur, try shaving
the site and reapplying the sensor.
2
The sensor site too thin or dry (the typical site is on the
tongue) may cause the measurement unstable. In such
case, please wrap the sensor site in a piece of medical
gauze moistened with normal saline and then open the
sensor clip to measure again.
6.
Attach the sensor as described in step 5. Be sure that the
sensor cable is positioned along the side of the animal's
face and body to avoid entanglement with the animal.
7.
Plug the sensor into the pulse oximeter and verify proper
operation.
NOTE:
To verify correct placement of the sensor on the site,
manually take a pulse rate reading from another site on the
animal. If the sensor is placed correctly, the manual reading
should correspond to the pulse rate reading displayed on the
monitor.
