and ACL502A:
Install the WAT-2A charging tool on the accumulator as described
in the following steps. Refer to fi gures 1 and 2.
1.
Assemble coupler (K) and copper washer (L) to pressure
gauge (G). Connect these components to the charging tool
at quick disconnect connector (H).
2.
Screw the M16 x 2.0 adaptor (J) onto the charging tool at the
threaded collar connection (E).
3.
Turn the hand knob (B) at the top of the charging tool
counterclockwise until it stops.
4.
Turn the bleeder valve (C) on the side of the charging tool
clockwise until it stops.
WARNING: Failure to follow steps 3 and 4 will result in
nitrogen gas leakage as charging tool and adaptor are
installed on the accumulator. Serious personal injury
could result.
5.
Remove the cap (A) from the P1620 charging valve on the
accumulator.
6.
Screw the assembled charging tool and adaptor (J) onto the
P1620 charging valve as a single unit. Turn until tight.
7.
Perform accumulator charging procedures as described in
Section 6.4.

Note: Refer to Figure 1 for descriptions
of items shown in this fi gure.
6.4 Charging the Accumulator with Nitrogen
After installing the WAT-2A charging tool on the accumulator,
perform charging procedures as described in the following steps.
Refer to fi gures 1 and 2.
1.
Remove thread protector (D) at connector (F). Install the
hose from the nitrogen tank regulator onto connector (F). Be
sure this connection is tight.
IMPORTANT: Hose end must be a female G ¼" 60º cone fi tting.
2.
Open the valve on the nitrogen tank and adjust the regulator
to the desired pressure.
3
Turn the hand knob (B) at the top of the charging tool
clockwise to open the charging valve on the accumulator.
4.
Charge the accumulator to the desired pressure, as
displayed on the gauge (G).
WARNING: Do not overcharge the accumulator.
Accumulator pre-charge pressure should not exceed
80% of the hydraulic system working pressure.
Maximum hydraulic system pressure must not exceed 5000 psi
[350 bar].
5.
Turn the hand knob (B) at the top of the charging tool counter
clockwise to reclose the charging valve.
6.
Close off the nitrogen supply at the tank.
7.
Turn the bleeder valve (C) counterclockwise to bleed the
pressure from the charging tool and the hose.
8.
Disconnect the hose from the charging tool. Reinstall thread
protector (D) on connector (F).
9.
Remove the charging tool from the charging valve.
10. Reinstall the cap (A) or plug (I) on the charging valve.
