4. Installation

4.1.
General installation information
When installing the unit, please make sure that the pump housing and the intake line are fully
vented, i.e. filled with the liquid being discharged. If this venting requirement is not observed,
the pump will not take in the liquid being discharged.
During the entire process of installation, the device must not be connected to the electrical
mains.
The pump is to be set up in a dry location, with the ambient temperature not to exceed 40°C.
The pump including the entire connection system has to be protected from frost and weather
influence.
When installing the device, please make sure that the motor is sufficiently ventilated.
When handling diesel fuel or fuel oil, smoking is not allowed, and open fire is to be kept off the
site. Please avoid inhaling the vapours. Ensure sufficient ventilation. Please wipe off any
spilled diesel fuel, fuel oil or rapeseed oil completely.
All connection lines have to be perfectly tight since leaking lines will affect the performance of the pump and may
even cause considerable damage. Please use appropriate sealing material to ensure an airtight installation. The
use of Teflon tape or comparable sealing material is to be avoided since it will be destroyed by diesel fuel, fuel oil
and rapeseed oil.
When tightening threaded connections, please do not apply excessive force which may cause damage. When
laying the connection pipes, you should make sure that the pump is not exposed to any form of weight, vibration
or tension. Moreover, the connection lines must not contain any kinks or an adverse slope.
The scope of delivery includes one intake line (2) and one pressure line (11) which were specifically designed for
the type of fluid to be discharged using the present pump. The lengths of the hoses initially coming with the pump
are different. For most applications, the shorter hose should be used as a suction hose, whereas the longer hose
should serve as a pressure line.
If you are using hoses other than those initially coming with the pump, please do make sure that they are suitable
for pumping the specific liquid to be discharged. Also, the intake or pressure line should have the same diameter
as the suction port (1) or pressure port (2) of the pump.
4.2.
Installing the suction line
The suction line (2) will convey the pumped fluid to the pump. Please screw one of the connection pieces together
with one of the sealing rings to the check valve (3) and intake filter (4) assembly. Insert the other end of the
connection piece as far as possible into the suction line, then use a hose clamp to fasten it in this position. In the
same way, insert another connection into the other end of the suction line and fasten it there using an additional
hose clamp. Fill the suction line completely with the pumped fluid. Subsequently, please screw the fluid-filled
suction line together with one sealing ring onto the suction port of the pump.
4.3.
Venting the pump housing
Please remove the closure (10) from the venting port (9) located on top of the pump housing. Subsequently, fill
the pump housing completely with pumping fluid through the pressure port (5) of the pump. The pump housing is
fully vented as soon as the liquid to be discharged has mounted up to the edge of the open venting port.
Subsequently, please close the venting opening again.
4.4.
Installing the pressure line
The pressure line (11) will convey the fluid being pumped from the pump to the point of withdrawal. Slide the fuel
nozzle (6) onto the pressure line, then fasten it in place using one of the hose clamps. Continue by inserting one
connection piece fully into the other end of the pressure line, and fasten it in that position using another hose
clamp. Finally, screw the pressure line together with one sealing ring onto the pressure port (5) of the pump.
4.5.
How to position the pump
Please make sure that the pump is standing in a safe and solid position. The device must always be placed
upright on an even surface. When selecting the installation site, please make sure that possible spilling of the
liquid being pumped cannot cause any damage.
The fuel nozzle should always be above the upper level of the pumping fluid. Otherwise, the so-called "siphoning
effect "may cause liquid to be discharged despite the fact that the pump is out of operation.
