1 Use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port to your network. It is recommended to
connect the X6004 to a DMZ interface of your Internet security router (the DMZ, or de-
militarized zone, is a feature of ZyXEL routers that allows servers to be safely
segregated from the LAN).
2 Use an Ethernet cable to connect the X6004 LAN port to your LAN.
Inspect the labels on the interface cards before making your analog phone,
PSTN and ISDN connections. NEVER connect your FXS ports to your
PSTN line. This may damage the interface card as well as the X6004.
3 Connect your analog telephones, PSTN phone line or ISDN phones and phone lines to
the interface card on the front of the X6004. See page

Use telephone cables with RJ-11 connectors to connect analog phones to the FXS
interface card on the X6004.
