7 Working with the device
• Never work without dust protection mask and
safety glasses. Some dusts have a hazardous
effect! Materials containing asbestos may not
be machined!
• Do not work with damaged tools!
• Ensure the work piece is fi xed securely! Loo-
se work pieces should be clamped in a sui-
table fi xture. This prevents the work pieces
from fl ying about.
• A correct and uniform speed achieves a high
performance, not excessive contact pressu-
re! Excessive pressure is to be avoided: it
only stresses the device and can even dama-
ge the bits and cutters!
• Hold the device without covering the ventila-
tion slots. If it overheats, you absolutely must
shut off the device and allow it to cool down.
Warning!
Do ensure that the sanding or satin-fi nishing
tool is in a fault-free condition and is neither
worn nor damaged. Worn or damaged sanding/
satin-fi nishing tools may result in parts brea-
king off and fl ying about. This could result in
injuries.
Firstly switch on the tool before using it to sand
down and satin-fi nish the work piece. Start with
a low rotational speed to check the effect on
the surface. Then keep increasing the rotational
speed until optimum work results are obtained.
Hold the tool in your right hand and guide it with
your left hand at the grip as shown in Fig. 3.
Good work results depend primarily on the cy-
linder being accurately aligned. The grip allows
the tool to be guided exactly parallel to the work
piece surface. There is a risk when not working
with the grip that tool tilting may produce grin-
ding marks and striations on the surface.
Guide the tool at an acute angle to the cham-
fer or rounded edges when working on them
(Fig. 4).
Only exert slight pressure when sanding and
satin-fi nishing. Too great a contact pressure
overloads the tool and results in irregular ma-
terial removal.
