Ea sy Ra in™ is a ba ttery-opera ted, single-va lve controller tha t works with Ra in Bird
DV, PGA, PEB, a nd PESB va lves. Ea sy Ra in's m a xim um opera ting pressure is 7
ba rs/ 100 psi.
S TART-UP
A. Ha nd screw the la tching solenoid onto the va lve. After progra m m ing, (see
below) the Ea sy Ra in unit ca n be fitted over the solenoid.
B. Insta ll a 9V a lka line ba ttery in the ba ttery com pa rtm ent. Put the ba ttery in the
ba ttery com pa rtm ent with the term ina ls on top. Tighten the lid to prevent wa ter
da m a ge. (Dra wing 1.2.)
NOTE: Repla ce the ba ttery once a yea r. To sa ve the progra m , insta ll the new
ba ttery within 30 seconds a fter rem oving the old one. Do not insta ll the ba ttery
under da m p conditions or condensa tion m a y form inside the ba ttery com pa rtm ent.
Keep wa ter out of the ba ttery com pa rtm ent.
PROGRAMMING
1 . RES ET PGM POS ITION
To reset or cha nge the progra m , turn the progra m m ing knob to RESET PGM a nd
wa it a t lea st 10 seconds.
2 . S ELECT S TART TIME
Turn the dia l to the yellow section to choose the num ber of hours until the first
wa tering occurs. You ca n choose no dela y (+0), 2-hour dela y (+2), 4-hour dela y
(+4), etc., up to a 12-hour dela y (+12) m a xim um . Turn the progra m m ing knob to
the desired setting a nd wa it a t lea st 10 seconds. If you choose no dela y (+0),
wa tering will sta rt one m inute a fter you set the sta rt tim e.
3 . S ELECT CYCLE OF IRRIGATION
This setting is the num ber of hours in a wa tering cycle a nd the num ber of
wa terings per cycle. You ca n choose a da ily wa tering cycle (24 hours), every other
da y (48 hours), or every third da y (72 hours). Turn the dia l to the pink section of
the Ea sy Ra in sticker. You ca n choose one (1X) or two (2X) wa terings per cycle.
For exa m ple, the setting "2X72" will wa ter twice on every third da y. Wa it 10
seconds before going to the next progra m m ing step.
Put the rem inder loop on the chosen setting to rem em ber the progra m m ing you
ha ve chosen..
NOTE: Selecting a 2X cycle results in two wa terings with a 4-hour soa k tim e
interva l in between. The soa k tim e interva l between wa terings a llows the soil to
a bsorb the wa ter a nd prevents puddling (cla y soil) or erosion (slopes).
Example : if you sta rt progra m m ing the Ea sy Ra in a t 16:00 (4:00PM) a nd you set
+4 when progra m m ing the sta rt tim e a nd you set a 10-m inute run tim e a nd a 2X48
cycle, the sprinklers will run a s follows:
Day One:
20:00 (8:00PM) to 20:10 (8:10PM) wa tering
20:10 (8:10PM) to 0:10 (12:10AM) soa k tim e
0:10 (0:10AM) to 0:20 (12:20AM) wa tering
Day Two no wa tering
Day Three Sa m e a s Da y One
4 . S ELECT RUN TIMES
This setting is the dura tion of wa tering in m inutes. You ca n choose a run tim e of 2,
5, 10, 15, 30, 60, or 90 m inutes.
Turn the progra m m ing knob to the green pa rt of the sticker showing the run tim es
a nd chose the desired run tim e.
Lea ve the progra m m ing dia l set on a run tim e for the controller to run a n
a utom a tic wa tering progra m .
The progra m m ing knob a rrow will rem ind you of the run tim e you ha ve chosen.
If you wish to cha nge the irriga tion run tim e, sim ply turn the progra m m ing knob to
the desired run tim e. Keep the progra m m ing knob on the new run tim e tha t you ha ve
chosen.
DEFAULT PROGRAM :
If no progra m m ing ha s been m a de a nd the progra m m ing dia l is positioned on the
run tim e section, a defa ult progra m will be sta rted 8 hours a fter the progra m m ing
knob ha s been turned to this position. The run tim e is the one is the one indica ted
by the progra m m ing dia l. The defa ult cycle of irriga tion is 1 X 24 h.
5 . MANUAL WATERING
To sta rt a m a nua l cycle, turn the progra m m ing knob to ON. Wa tering sta rts 10
seconds a fter you set the knob. To resum e a utom a tic opera tion, turn the knob
ba ck to the run tim e selected in step 4.
6 . OFF MODE
To stop a ll wa tering, turn the progra m m ing knob to OFF. To resum e a utom a tic
opera tion, turn the dia l ba ck to the run tim e selected in step 4.
7 . CONNECT TO VALVE
Fit the Ea sy Ra in over the solenoid.
Do not connect a ny ra in shutoff device to the Ea sy Ra in.
