Description
The Oventrop thermostatic radiator valve sets consist of a
thermostat "vindo TH", thermostatic radiator valve "Series
AV6" / "Series RFV6" and a radiator lockshield valve "Combi
2". They are used in hot water central heating and cooling
systems for room temperature control.
Thermostatic valve "Series AV6" / "Series RFV6"
Oventrop thermostatic radiator valve "Series AV6"/"Series
RFV6" with connection thread M 30 x 1.5. The valves are fitted
with a presettable valve insert and therefore allow a problem-
free adaptation of the flow rates to the required heat demand.
Connection for threaded and copper pipes or composition
pipe "Copipe".
The Oventrop production programme includes suitable com-
pression fittings for copper pipes and composition pipes "Co-
pipe" (exception: "Series RFV 6" not suitable for compression
fittings "Cofit S" with female thread Rp
Complete valve insert replaceable under working conditions
by using the special tool "Demo-Bloc".

General information:
Thermostatic radiator valves control the room temperature by
modifying the flow of hot water through the radiator. Often,
there is only a minimum requirement for heat (especially in tran-
sition periods) so that the thermostats open the valves only by
a small amount. Consequently flow noises could occur due to
high differential pressures. To prevent theses noises, measures
should be taken to control the differential pressure; for example
by using automatic differential pressure regulators or speed
controlled circulation pumps.
Installation:
The radiator valve should be installed so that the thermostat is
in a horizontal position and a good circulation of air is guaran-
teed. If this is not possible, a thermostat with remote sensor
or with remote control should be used. The radiator valve is
installed in the supply pipe to the radiator, with the flow in the
direction of the arrow.
All radiators and pipework must be flushed thoroughly to pre-
vent any problems caused by welding beads or dirt.
When converting old heating systems, it is recommended that
a plastic strainer should be fitted at the inlet port of all radiator
valves.
Do not fit the thermostat until all building work has been com-
pleted. During construction period, the valve can be operated
with the screwed cap. The screwed cap is not to be used for
permanent shut-off of the valve against system pressure (for
instance while radiator is removed). In this case protect the
valve outlet with a metal cap.
Presetting:
Set presetting according to
the required value with the
help of 13 mm spanner or
the special key. The requi-
red setting must be in line
with the marking. Interme-
diate positions are not
allowed. Modification of
the presetting under wor-
king conditions. No escape
of water.

Function:
The Oventrop radiator lockshield valves "Combi 2" are installed
in the return pipe of the radiator. They allow the removal of
radiators without the necessity to drain the system.
To carry out the hydronic balancing within the heating system,
a presetting can alter the flow resistance.
Presetting
1. Remove protection cap.
2. Close the valve disc by turning a 6 mm spanner (1) clock-
wise (drawing 1).
3. Then preset the valve disc by turning the 6 mm spanner (1)
anticlockwise according to the number of turns selected
from the flow chart (drawing 2).
Isolating
1. Remove protection cap.
2. Close the valve disc by turning a 6 mm spanner (1) clock-
wise (drawing 1).

Note for use of compression fittings
When using compression fitting, the thread of the fitting and
the compression ring are slightly oiled at works. Do not use
any additional lubricant Do not allow the oil or lubricant to
come into contact with the EPDM valve disc. EPDM is not oil
resistant.
Only use original Oventrop compression fittings.
It is important that the pipes are cut to the correct length at a
right angle to the centre line. The ends of the pipe must be
free of burrs and undamaged.
When using thin walled and very soft pipes, reinforcing sleeves
have to be used. The reinforcing sleeve supports the pipe and
provides the strength to enable the necessary compression.
Reinforcing sleeves cannot be used on pipe with welded
seams. The recommendations of the pipe manufacturers must
always be observed. If necessary, a practical test has to be
carried out.
The special fittings "Cofit S" may be used for the Oventrop
composition pipe "Copipe". The installation instructions
supplied with the fittings must be observed.
