4. Connecting your
Synthetic Ruby Identifier
Designed and developed as a smart gemological electronic tool, the
connectivity of the Synthetic Ruby Identifier is also a new feature for
Presidium products.
The Synthetic Ruby Identifier can connect to other devices/programs
via 2 ways – the micro USB port located at the back of the device and
the Bluetooth capability within the unit.
4.1 Connecting your Synthetic Ruby
Identifier via USB
With the provided USB cable, plug the micro small-head end to the
back of the unit. The other large-head end should be plugged into a
USB port.
If you are using the USB connection for power source, check to see if
it is working by pressing the Power button to switch on the unit.
If you are using the USB connection to connect onto the Presidium
proprietary gemstone inventory management software OMI that is
installed on your computer, your computer should alert you that a USB
device has been connected to the system.
4.2 Connecting your Synthetic Ruby
Identifier via Bluetooth
As there are plans for the future eco-system of Presidium gemological
testing products to connect to each other seamlessly, your Synthetic
Ruby Identifier unit is set to automatically detect for Bluetooth pairing
devices.
Bluetooth capability is automatically switched on when you press the
Power button to switch on the Synthetic Ruby Identifier. Bluetooth
presence will be broadcast for approximately 20 seconds when you
first switch on the unit. This broadcast runs concurrently with the
warming up process of the unit.
If a Bluetooth device is paired with the Synthetic Ruby Identifier, the
Power button will stop blinking and be lit in white and ready for use.
If no Bluetooth device is paired with the Synthetic Ruby Identifier, the
Power button will stop blinking and be lit in blue, indicating it is only
ready for use.
