Behavior after power
13 Appendix
13.1 Information on the bus master
configuration with EtherCAT
The bus coupler is an output module with 32 permanently
set digital outputs. As a result, very few steps are
required for configuration and administration.

13.2 Operating behavior

4 bytes of master real-time data (outputs) can be
processed per switch. In addition, diagnostic data is
transferred as General Purpose Inputs (GPIs). The data
length of the GPIs and GPOs is 2 bytes (16 bits) each.
The bus coupler does not have any distributed clock (DC)
capabilities.

13.3 Start-up behavior

The hardware components are tested (start-up test) after
on
the module is switched on (connection of the 24 V logic
supply).
If the start-up test has been successfully completed and
bus voltage is available, the bus coupler is initialized
according to the presettings on the rotary and DIP
switches.
After successful initialization, the module is in INIT mode
until the master establishes communication. It can now
be switched by the EtherCAT control into the various
modes until it is "operational".

13.4 Configuration file

The file is an ASCII file in Extensible Markup Language
format (XML) specified by the EtherCAT Technology Group
(ETG) that describes the objects/performance data for an
EtherCAT device. This file is available under the file name
BDC_ECAT32.XML for the bus coupler.
The file can be downloaded from the Internet at
www.aventics.com/mediadirectory.
