CALCIUM REACTOR ASSEMBLY
The REEF-React Calcium Reactor is supplied almost fully assembled to ensure it is ready to use
as soon as possible after unpacking.
CALCIUM REACTOR GENERAL INSTALLATION
REEF-React Calcium Reactors are designed so they can be conveniently positioned either
externally or internally in a sump or aquarium. The 300 model can also "hang on" if required.
1. Ensure that there is adequate
space in or around the
aquarium or sump to allow
the calcium reactor to be
installed correctly with
sufficient space to carry out
maintenance and to attach to
your CO
supply.

2. Remove the pump cage from
the pump (9), unscrew the
impeller well cover (see
photo 1) and push out and
discard the flow regulator
see photo 2). Replace pump cage.
3. Model 300 ONLY - Screw the small pump connecting pipe (24) into the pump cage as
shown, and the large pump connecting pipe (25) into the top of the pump (see photo 3).
Model 500 ONLY - Screw the large pump connecting pipe (25) into the pump cage as
shown, and the small pump connecting pipe (24) into the top of the pump (see photo 3).
4. Unscrew pump connection unions (10) from the reactor body and connect the other ends
of the pump connecting pipes into these pump connection unions.
5. Screw the pump connection unions back onto the reactor and adjust as necessary to allow
pump to fit securely onto the reactor body.
6. Ensure all unions and O rings are correctly aligned and hand tightened.
7. Remove calcium reactor lid (20) by undoing the lid thumb screws (18).
8. Fill reactor with recommended media. We highly recommend coarse coral gravel (6-10mm
grain size) as a media for the REEF-Reacts. This is available through all TMC stockists (go to
www.tropicalmarinecentre.co.uk to find your local supplier). See volumes required on inside
front cover.
Please ensure the coral gravel is washed thoroughly before use.

USEFUL TIP: The easiest way
500
to wash coral gravel is to pour
it into a bucket or similar vessel
and place it under a continuous
supply of fresh water ensuring
that the gravel is vigorously
stirred and that all waste
material is drained away. Once
the coral gravel is clean, the
water in the bucket will be clear
and not cloudy or discoloured.
