9. With a jug or similar vessel carefully pour the clean coral gravel
into the reaction chamber (13) until it reaches a level just
below the pump inlet (14) (see photo 5).
10. Locate and identify the water supply tubing (21). Attach one
end of the tubing to the pump venturi (7). The other end
should be placed either in the tank or connected to a supply
pump (if using - not supplied) to allow you to create a siphon
to deliver aquarium water to the reactor.
11. With a jug or similar, carefully fill the reactor to the top with
aquarium water and re-attach the lid, firmly tightening the
thumb screws.
12. Locate and identify the two lengths of CO
length from the lid of the reactor to the remaining blue connector on the pipework where
you have just attached the water supply tubing to the pump venturi (7).
13. Connect your chosen CO
gas outlet (4) using a length of CO
ensuring the non-return valve (2) is in the correct direction
(going into the reactor).
Model 300 ONLY - attach the short length of CO
connection tubing (16) between the bubble counter (3) and
the pump venturi (7) (see photo 6).
Model 500 ONLY - attach the short length of CO
connection tubing (16) between the bubble counter (3) and
the lid gas connection (5) (see photo 7).
14. Fill the bubble counter (3) with water using a test kit
syringe (or similar).
15. Locate and identify the reactor water/effluent tubing (23).
Connect this to the reactor water/effluent outlet (15) and
place the other end in your sump. This tubing needs to
gravity feed into the sump, so the reactor lid must be higher
than the aquarium sump water level. Trim the water/effluent
tubing (23) as necessary.
16. Connect the water flow indicator (8) in-line to either the
water/effluent tubing (23) or the water supply tubing (21).
PRE-START UP
1. Before switching on the calcium reactor pump and starting up the CO
recommend that you use a reliable test kit to first test your aquarium water to obtain your
calcium, magnesium, alkalinity and pH concentrations.
USEFUL TIP: The optimum concentrations of magnesium, calcium, alkalinity/carbonate
hardness and pH in a marine aquarium are as follows:-
Magnesium (Mg)
Calcium (Ca)
German Carbonate Hardness 7-10dKH
pH
2. Ensure that all unions are correctly aligned and that all tubing connections have been made
correctly and securely. Failure to do so could result in leaks.
