• Do not charge the appliance using the 12V connector when the vehicle is occupied. Ensure the area is well ventilated.
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, disconnect the appliance from any power source before attempting maintenance
or cleaning. Turning off controls without disconnecting the appliance will not reduce this risk.
Make sure the appliance is disconnected from all charging power sources before beginning the jump start procedure.
• Never attempt to use the ac charger and dc charging connection simultaneously.
additional safety instructions for batteries and chargers
BATTERIEs
• Never attempt to open for any reason.
• Do not expose the battery to water.
• Do not store in locations where the temperature may exceed 40°C.
• Charge only at ambient temperatures between 4°C and 40°C.
• Charge only using the chargers provided with the appliance.
• When disposing of batteries, follow the instructions given in the section "Protecting the environment".
• Under extreme conditions, battery leakage may occur. When you notice liquid on the batteries, carefully wipe the liquid
off using a cloth. Avoid skin contact.
• In case of skin or eye contact, follow the instructions below.
WARning:
The battery fluid is a diluted sulphuric acid and may cause personal injury or damage to property. In case
of skin contact, immediately rinse with water. If redness, pain or irritation occurs seek medical attention. In case of eye
contact, rinse immediately with clean water and seek immediate medical attention.
CHARGERs
Your charger has been designed for a specific voltage. Always check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage
on the rating plate.
WARning:
Never attempt to replace the charger unit with a regular mains plug.
Use your charger only to charge the battery in the tool with which it was supplied. Other batteries could burst, causing
personal injury and damage.
• Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Have defective cords replaced immediately.
• Do not expose the charger to water.
• Do not open the charger.
• Do not probe the charger.
The battery must be placed in a well ventilated area when charging.
This unit is double insulated; therefore no earth wire is required.
Fail-safe isolating transformer. The mains supply is electrically separated from the transformer output.
The jump starter is intended for household use only.
electrical safety
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer in order to avoid a hazard.

use
charging the unit
This unit is shipped in a partially charged state.
• Charge the unit before first use using the mains charging adapter for 24 hours.
Lead-acid batteries require routine maintenance to ensure a full charge and a long battery life. All batteries lose energy
from self-discharge over time and more rapidly at higher temperatures. When the unit is not in use, manufacturer
recommend that the battery is charged at least every 30 days.
• Check the battery charge level by pressing the battery status pushbutton. The LED charge status display will indicate
the level of battery charge. When only one red LED lights, charge the unit.
• Make sure all other unit functions are turned off during recharging, as this can slow the recharging process.
note:
Charging the battery after each use will prolong the battery life; frequent heavy discharges between charges and/or overcharging will
reduce battery life.
important!
When the battery is overly discharged and if the green LED is lit when the charger is plugged in, this
indicates the battery is at a high impedance stage. In this event, recharge the unit and leave the unit charging for a
period of 24 hours before use.
CHARGING THE UNIT UsING THE MAINs CHARGING ADAPTER
• Insert the jack of the appropriate mains charging adapter (either the EU model or the GB model) into the 12V AC/DC
charging socket on the back of the unit.
• Insert the appropriate mains charging adapter plug into a mains power socket.
• Charge until two red and one green (full) battery status LEDs light or flash.
• Continue to charge for one to two more hours.
• Once fully charged disconnect the AC charging adapter from the mains power socket and then remove the jack plug
of AC charging adapter from the 12V AC/DC charging socket on the back of the unit. store it in a safe place.
CHARGING THE UNIT UsING THE 12 VDC CHARGING ADAPTER
Charging the unit from an external 12 VDC power source requires the use of the 12 VDC charging adapter. This
adapter has a male dc connector at each end.
• Insert the gold-tipped plug of the 12 VDC charging adapter into the accessory socket socket of your vehicle or other
12 VDC power source.
• Insert the silver-tipped plug into the 12 VDC accessory socket on the front panel of the unit.
• Charge the unit until the green (full) battery status LED lights when the battery power level button is pressed (AFTER
unplugging the adapter from the unit).
• When charging is complete, disconnect the 12 VDC charging adapter and store it in a safe place.
note:
some vehicles require that the ignition be switched to the accessory socket position in order to power the accessory socket.
caution! to reduce the risk of property damage:
• Recharge using this method only when necessary. Frequent use the the 12 volt DC charging method may shorten
battery life.
• Do not charge for longer than 6 hours maximum using this method and do not leave the unit unattended when
charging using this method.
using the unit as a jump-starter
WARning:
Make sure that the vehicle is in neutral with the parking brake applied.
note:
If your connections are incorrectly made, the unit will beep continuously and the red reverse polarity indicator will illuminate, even if
the on/off switch is in the off position. Rectify the connections immediately.
WARning:
Make sure that the cables are not in the path of moving belts or the fan.
1. Turn off the vehicles ignition and all accessories before making any connections.
2. Make sure that the jump-starter on/off switch is turned off.
3. The following procedure is for a negative earth system ie the negative battery terminal is connected to the chassis.
4. Connect the positive (+) red clamp to the vehicle's positive battery terminal.
5. Connect the negative (–) black clamp to chassis or a solid, non-moving, metal vehicle component or chassis part.
Never clamp directly to negative battery terminal or moving part. Refer to the automobile owner's manual.
