1) Opening and security of the roof box
The box can be opened from both sides (figure 1) with the exception of the Wollemi model. The keys
are attached to the side of the box near the central lock.
To open: turn the key anti-clockwise (figure 2) to open the central locking, after which the box lid can
be opened. Note, when opening one side of the box, the other side must be locked.
To close: reverse the process. Close the lid of the roof box, lightly press the lid down to release the
latch locks and lock by turning the key in a clockwise direction. After locking, try lifting the lid to make
sure the box is securely closed. Note that the key can only be removed if the box is locked!
2) Roof bars suitable for the roof box
The roof box must be fixed only on roof bars approved for the car concerned. For installation of the box
the spacing between the two bars must be at least 60 cm for the Wollemi and Tongariro and 70 cm
for the Aoraki XL (figure 3). To improve the stability of the roof box, you can increase this distance
depending on the possibilities that exist for fixing the bars.
3) Positioning of the box on the roof bars
The box must be placed on the roof bars so that its centre is in the middle of the roof bars (figure 4). Do
not place the box too far forward (figure 5), or too far back (figure 6), to avoid impeding the full opening
of the boot of the car, and to avoid the box being in an unbalanced position that could cause vibrations
when driving. The box should also be placed along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (figures 7 and 8).
4) Fastening the roof box to the roof bars (for the Aoraki XL model)
Loosen the knob M8 by turning counterclockwise so that the quick-release can be slid onto the roof bar
(figure 9). Slide the quick release onto the roof bar and firmly tighten the knob M8 (figure 10). Note, the
safety mechanism of the quick fastening device must enter the plastic shoe of the clamping device.
