3. Assembly and use
Equipment needed:
To perform eff ecti ve CPAP therapy with the Pedifl ow, the following equipment is needed:
• A venti lati on device or device which supports CPAP therapy
• Pedifl ow (including mask)
• An appropriate tubing set with bent inspirati on and expirati on tubing. In additi on, a chamber for the humidifi er is
recommended. The connecti ons to the tubing ends must have the F10 dimension to fi t on the Pedifl ow.
• One headgear
• Opti onal for venti lati on devices which need external pressure measurement:
• a T piece for measuring the pressure (already included in the medin tubing or can be ordered separately REF 4010)
Warning: Packaging
If the packaging is damaged or if the products themselves are damaged, these parts should not be used and should be disposed of.
In additi on, check the openings of the Pedifl ow and the mask to ensure they are patent. If the openings are obstructed, the
product aff ected should not be used.
Assembly:
(1) Check whether the Pedifl ow is correctly assembled (Figure 1).
(2) Connect the Pedifl ow to the inspirati on and expirati on
tubing (Figure 2). If your venti lati on device requires external
pressure measurement, insert the T piece for pressure
measurement in this connecti on. The pressure measurement
line can then be inserted in this piece and connected with
the venti lati on device.
(3) Seal the mask of the Pedifl ow by hand and adjust the CPAP
parameters, for example, pressure, on the venti lati on device.
If this is not possible, check the tubing connecti ons for leaks.
If all connecti ons are correct and there is a defect of the
Pedifl ow, it should not be used and should be discarded.
Important note: Defecti ve Pedifl ow
If the Pedifl ow does not work properly, it should not be used.
Warning: Masks
Always insert the Pedifl ow completely in the mask opening
provided and do not use any cream in this area since otherwise
the mask may slip from the Pedifl ow.
The masks should not be reprocessed and reused. They are
only intended for single use. Reprocessed masks may harden
and injure the pati ent.
