Thank you for purchasing a Leitz punching and binding
machine. Please read these operating instructions
carefully in order to learn how to use the unit correctly.
Keep this manual with the unit at all times.
Which materials can I punch?
Paper – you can punch up to 15 sheets of 80-gram paper
simultaneously (this is the weight of normal photocopying
paper). If your paper is thinner, you can punch more sheets
at the same time. If your paper is thicker, you can punch
fewer sheets at the same time.
Transparent films (coversheet facing the front) – You
can punch up to two 0.2-mm thick transparent films
simultaneously. Films have to be punched separately.
Do not punch them together with paper or cover sheet
cardboard.
Cardboard (cover sheet facing the rear) – Cover sheets
made of cardboard also have to be punched separately. Do
not punch them together with transparent films or sheets
from your document.
Functional Elements
Cover/paper support – When the cover is open
it supports the paper in order to make punching
easier.

Punching channel – Place the sheets in here in
order to punch them.

Wire comb holder – Holds the open wire comb in
such a way that you can easily insert the punched
sheets.

Cuttings tray – Empty after every 50 punching
operations at the latest in order to prevent damage
to the punching mechanism.
Punching and binding lever – Used for punching
the sheets. Operates the wire closer
time.
Wire closer – This mechanism closes the wire
comb when the punching and binding lever
operated. The following table shows the comb size
required for a certain number of sheets:

Adjustment knob for the closing width – turn to
"Punch Point" for punching. For binding, turn to the
comb size used.

Safety Instructions
Intended Use
•
This unit has been developed to punch paper and
plastic films, as well as to bind such materials
together with wire combs. Use the unit only for this
purpose and only as described in these operating
instructions.
General Precautions
•
Place the unit on a stable, flat surface (e.g. table).
•
Keep children away from the unit – danger of injury.
Caution! Pinch point hazard! When punching
and binding keep hands clear of wire closer.
In order to prevent damage to the unit:
•
Before punching, remove all metal parts (staples
etc.) from the sheets.
•
Do not punch more than the stated quantity of paper
or films.
•
Empty the container for punch waste regularly (after
50 punching operations at the latest).
•
Use only original accessories made by Leitz.
•
Remove any external soiling with a damp cloth. Do
not use any abrasive detergents or chemicals.
•
Store the unit in a dry place.
Unpacking and Setting up the Unit
Scope of Delivery
•
Unpack the unit carefully.
•
The box should contain the following:
– the wireBIND 300,
– a starter set with various wire combs and
coversheets,
– these operating instructions.
•
Retain the packaging material at least until the end of
the guarantee period.
Attaching the Lever
•
Attach the lever to the axle in such a way that it can
is
be moved up and down. Then fix it in place with the
screw supplied.
Setting up the Unit
•
Place the unit on a stable, flat surface (e.g. table).

The punching blades were oiled during production to protect
them against corrosion.

Clean the punching blades by punching old sheets
of paper.
