Instruction for a right disassembling
• Rotate the crankshaft clockwise till the timing notch of each
camshaft sprocket reaches 0° (fig. 2 ref. A and B);
• Dismount the crankshaft position sensor and insert the
flywheel locking pin (
NOTA BENE: the engine must be 50° before the TDC of
the 1° cylinder.
• Lock the timing tensioner in rear position:
- Release the ratchet (fig. 2 ref. D);
- Insert the stop (fig. 2 ref. E);
- Introduce the pin
block (fig. 2 ref. F);
• Remove the chain tensioner;
• Disassembling the drive of the chain tensioner, the driver of
the chain and the timing chain.
Instruction for a right assembling
• The flywheel locking pin must be inserted;
• Then insert the 3 pins
• Dismount the lid of the sprocket of the fuel pump at high
pressure (fig. 2 ref. G) using the plate
• If it is necessary to disassembly the pump, utilize the plate
(fig.1 ref. A), locking in the right slots the three tangs, to

• Place the plate
ref. B);
• Loosen the bolts of each camshaft sprocket and the bolts of
the fuel pump at high pressure (fig. 2 ref. H and I);
• The links of the chain must be aligned to the timing notches
of each sprocket (fig. 2 ref. A, B and L);
• The timing chain must be stretch on the sprockets on the
side not under tension.
- Dismount the tensioner locking pin (fig. 2 ref. F).
• For the model without the EGRS (exhaust gas
recirculation system): rotate the sprocket of the fuel pump
at high pressure anti-clockwise to remove the slack from the
timing chain;
• Tighten the bolts of each camshaft sprocket (fig. 2 ref. H) at
33 Nm;
• Tighten the bolts of the fuel pump sprocket at high pressure
(fig. 2 ref. I) at 32 Nm.
The bolts of the crankshaft pulley MUST be used only three times.
Mark the bolts' head with a punch to show that they have been
used.
