dirty.
The thermometer probe
is not aligned to the
eardrum.
The thermometer is
used within 30 minutes
after being taken from a
cold environment.
The temperature probe
is damaged.

Solution
Change the batteries.
Make sure that the
batteries are installed
correctly.
Contact the
manufacturer.
Take a measurement
under an ambient
temperature between
10°C (50.0°F) and 40°C
(104°F).
Clean the lens using a
cotton swab.
Reposition the
thermometer probe so
that it is aligned to the
eardrum.
Wait for more than
30 minutes after the
thermometer is moved
into the measurement
environment.
