back and rotated independently of the clamping screw so that it can be further tightened or unscrewed when the lever contacts
the sharpener base.
Set the sharpening depth with the grinding wheel head tilt lock stop. The spinning grinding wheel should redress all of the toothed
link edge. A shallow tilt of the grinding wheel head will cause poor grinding and sharpening of the chain links; a tilt too deep will
accelerate the wear of the chain. The grinding wheel head tilt is restricted by rotating the lock stop wheel and securing its position
with the counter nut (XIII).
With all of the sharpener settings made, lift the grinding wheel head and turn on the sharpener by moving the Power On/Off switch
to - I. Wait for the grinding wheel to reach the rated speed. Now, hold the handle on the grinding wheel head and lower the head
in a smooth and rather slow motion to grind the chain tooth. Next, lift the grinding wheel head again, move the chain in the sliding
guide by two toothed links so that the next chain link to be ground sharp is engaged by the chain stop, and repeat the grinding
operation as above. Operate the sliding guide adjustment knobs to move the chain. Continue by grinding every second toothed
link. When done, rotate the sliding guide by 180 degrees so that its pointer shows the same angle value on the other end of the
angle gauge, and grind the toothed links which remain to be sharpened.
Caution! It is best to mark the fi rst toothed link with e.g. a piece of white chalk, a drop of paint or a contrasting felt-tip pen once it
has been sharpened for reference. This will help you know which toothed chains are already ground sharp.
When done sharpening the chain, lift the grinding wheel head, turn off the sharpener by moving the Power On/Off switch to - O
and wait for the grinding wheel to coast to a stop. Unplug the power cord from the mains and remove the chain from the sliding
guide. Proceed with maintenance of the tool.
Extension cords
If it is necessary to connect the product to the mains using an extension cord, the core wire size of the extension cord should not
be smaller than the core wire size of the power cord of this product. If you want to use an extension cord over 25 m in length, its
minimum core wire size must be 1.5 mm
Residual risks
This product has been designed and built according to good design engineering practices and safety principles. However, there
may be residual risks when using the product.
Warning of health hazards caused by operating an electrical power supply with the use of improper power cords.
Warning of noise hazards caused by failure to use hearing protection.
The residual risks can be minimised by strictly following the safety instructions of this product.
MAINTENANCE AND OVERHAUL
CAUTION! Before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance work, unplug the tool from the power outlet. Having
fi nished working with the workpiece/material, inspect the power tool for damage by visually inspecting the exterior and the body
and the handles. Check the power cord and its rubber gland, the action of the ON/OFF switch, the vents for clogging, the motor
brushes for sparking, the noise of the bearings and the drive transmission, and how the power tool starts and runs. During the
warranty period, the user is not allowed to disassemble the tool or replace any components or parts, as this will void the warranty
rights. Any irregularities found during overhaul or the operation signal the need for repair at a service centre. For this purpose,
contact the manufacturer. Having fi nished your work, clean the housing, the vents, all switches, all handles and guards with
compressed air (at 0.3 MPa maximum), a brush or a dry cloth. Do not use any chemicals or cleaners. Do not use sharp tools for
cleaning. Remove the circular saw and clean the inside of the guards, the fi xing of the circular saw, as well as the saw itself from
dust and other impurities generated during operation. Clean handles, knobs and other adjusting parts with a dry, clean cloth.
