7 | Installation

7.1 | Reservoir with metering valve (RMV)
The RMV functions at any angle from horizontal to vertical.
The more vertical (upright), the better. The opening of the
rubber filler plug (part 2) must always point upwards. The
breather tube (part 8) should be laid in a loop to prevent
ingress of dirt and water, and so that sloshing oil cannot
escape.
WARNING!
Risk of fire!
Make sure that the RMV is protected from
extreme heat (e.g. the exhaust) and stone
chip damage.
First install the reservoir (RMV, part 1) using the RMV
mount (part 10) in a horizontal or inclined position on the
motorcycle frame or on the fairing. It is important that
the rubber filler plug (part 2) is located at the highest
point of the RMV. Select the best fastening option for your
requirements. Make sure that the opening for filling the RMV
and the adjuster knob are easy to reach.

7.2 | Vacuum connections

There are a number of different connection options. The
scope of delivery of the Louis Special Edition includes the
brass spigot M5 (part 5) and the T-pieces (parts 6a and
6b) which are used for approximately 95% of motorcycles
(quads/ATVs). If you require one of the other connections,
you can obtain it free of charge from Scottoiler or from your
nearest Louis store (see www.louis-moto.co.uk). If you are
not sure, you will find further information at
www.scottoiler.com/uk  Tech. Service  Model-specific
installation instructions (see also section 6).

Various options for generating the vacuum:
1st option
Use the T-pieces (parts 6a or 6b) if the fuel tap is vacuum-
controlled (recognisable from the marking "Prime") or if the
compensation tubes are located between the carburettors.
Cut the vacuum tube (caution: not the fuel hose, of course!)
and fit the T-piece.
2nd option
Remove the blanking screw for the carburettor's vacuum
connection, and replace it with the brass spigot M5 (part
5) or M6 (not included, but available free of charge from
Scottoiler or your nearest Louis store, see www.louis-moto.
co.uk).
