Step 7
Press radial seal carrier and support ring for sealing lip C
against the surface of the installation tool.
Tighten the three knurled screws D so that the guide pin
remains in the bore of the control ring.
Note: When installing the radial seal carrier, make sure
that the control ring remains fixed in the installation tool.
Step 8
The crankshaft flange must be free of oil and grease.
Check that the engine is still at TDC.
Screw large hexagon nut B to the end of the threaded
spindle.
Press the threaded spindle of the installation tool in the
direction of the arrow until the large hexagon nut B
touches the housing of the installation tool A.
Align the flat edge of the installation tool with the oil pan-
side sealing surface of the crankcase and push the new
radial seal carrier over the crankshaft and onto the
cylinder block.
Insert guide pin E into the hole in the crankshaft. This will
ensure that the control ring reaches its final installation
position.
Tighten tool and new radial seal carrier with internal
hexagon screws F on crankshaft flange.
Step 9
Screw two M6 x 35 mm screws (G) into the cylinder
block, to guide the radial seal carrier.
Tighten the large hexagon nut of the installation tool to 35
Nm. Thus, the control ring is pressed onto the crankshaft.
After tightening the hexagon nut, there must be a small
gap between the radial seal carrier and the cylinder
block.
Screw large hexagon nut B to the end of the threaded
spindle.
Remove the two guide screws G from the cylinder block.
Unscrew the three knurled screws D from the housing.
Remove sealing lip support ring, then remove installation
tool (C).
