APPLICATION
When specific power and terminal configurations exist and
additional door protection is required, the LC-36A Light Curtain
can be installed on non-monitored operators from manufacturers
other than LiftMaster by following these instructions.
Although this procedure has been tested with some operators,
LiftMaster does not guarantee this method will work with all
operators.
REQUIREMENTS
• LiftMaster CPICARD
• LiftMaster CPS-OPEN4 Photoelectric sensors
For installs with existing photoelectric sensors, they MUST be
replaced with LiftMaster CPS-OPEN4 photoelectric sensors. NO
OTHER PHOTOELECTRIC SENSORS ARE RECOMMENDED FOR
THIS APPLICATION.
• LiftMaster 100MAPS External Power Supply (Optional)
If power is not available from the operator, the 100MAPS can
supply the required voltage to the CPICARD.
The operator must have the following functions:
• 24VAC or 24VDC power output terminals and at least 40mA of
output available to operate the LC-36A Light Curtain in addition
to the power required to operate the CPS-OPEN4 photoelectric
sensors (see CPS-OPEN4 manual for more information).
NOTE: The LiftMaster 100MAPS External Power Supply can be
used to power the CPICARD instead of the 24VAC or 24VDC
output terminals on the operator.
• Non-monitored edge terminal and common terminal

INSTALLING THE LC-36A LIGHT CURTAIN
ON NON-MONITORED OPERATORS
To prevent possible SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH from a
closing door:
• Be sure to DISCONNECT POWER to the operator BEFORE
installing the Light Curtain.
• The door MUST be in the fully opened or closed position
BEFORE installing the Light Curtain.
• Correctly connect and align the Light Curtain transmitter
and receiver.
• The Light Curtain is for use with LiftMaster
Door Operators. Use with ANY other product voids the
warranty.
• DO NOT use this product for the protection of dangerous
machinery or in explosive atmospheres or radioactive
environments. Use ONLY specific and approved types of
devices for such applications.
• The Light Curtain MUST be installed ONLY by authorized
and fully trained personnel.
• Installing the Light Curtain according to these instructions
does NOT make an operator UL 325 compliant.
To prevent possible product damage and incorrect operation:
• NEVER scratch or paint the optical sensors.
• DO NOT drill any additional holes into the Light Curtain.
• Correctly connect and align the Light Curtain transmitter
and receiver.
• DO NOT bend or twist the Light Curtain.
• Oil may damage the Light Curtain cable so contamination
MUST be avoided at ALL times.
• DO NOT mount the Light Curtain where sunlight or other
external infrared light sources will shine directly into the
optical sensors of the Light Curtain receiver. If necessary,
switch the mounting side of the Light Curtain transmitter
and receiver.
