Operation
Note
Voltages have priority. If there is no
voltage at the test probes (< 4 V), the
device is in continuity/resistance test
mode.
To switch the device on, hold both test probes
together.

After a short time the device switches off automati-
cally due to the "Auto Power Off" function.
The screwing on or off of the measuring probe
adapter makes measuring at wall outlets more
convenient.
Self-test
When the device is switched on for the first time, if
new batteries are inserted or when the test probes
are held together while the device is off (the "Rx/Ω"
LED does not light up), the optical display (LEDs)
except for the RCD and ELV LEDs (separate circuit)
will light up. Shortly thereafter, the device switches
to continuity check. If the device does not light up or
lights up only weakly, the batteries must be renewed.
If the device does not function even with new batter-
ies, it must be protected from improper use.
DC voltage check
Upon placing of the test probes on a DC voltage
within the nominal voltage range, the voltage is
displayed in volts and "DC" is also indicated. If a
negative voltage is present at test probe "L2", then
a "–" (minus) is displayed in front of the value. For
voltages greater than approximately 35 V, a poten-
tially fatal voltage is indicated via the ELV-LED and a
vibrating signal.
AC voltage (TRMS) check
Upon placing of the test probes on an AC voltage
within the nominal voltage range, the voltage is
displayed in volts and "AC" is also indicated. For
voltages greater than approximately 35 V, a poten-
tially fatal voltage is indicated via the ELV-LED and a
vibrating signal.
Line conductor test
Touch a conductor with test probe "L2" (large
handle).
3 On contact with a phase of at least 100 V~,
the "<L" LED lights up and "- - -" appears in the
display.
For determination of the phase conductor, the per-
ceptibility of the display may be impaired, e.g. by
insulating devices for protection against accidental
direct contact, in unfavourable positions, for exam-
ple on wooden ladders or insulating floor coverings,
a non-earthed voltage or under unfavourable light
conditions.
