2.3) Piercing
Continue operating the pump to pierce the strip.
2.4) Punch return
When the piercing operation is complete, release the oil pressure from the pump to fully retract the
punch. Remove any metal slugs from the die (91) and from under the die guard (08) (Ref. to Fig. 1)
3. WARNING
– Check the identification on both the punch and the die, to ensure a matching set.
– Always remove metal slugs from the die (91) and from under the die guard (08).
– The Swivel Connector (01), when not under pressure, can rotate through 360°, enabling the
operator to use the head in the most comfortable position.
Note: do not attempt to rotate the head if the hydraulic circuit is pressurised.
4. PUNCH ASSEMBLY AND REMOVAL
– Connect the head to a compatible hydraulic pump.
– Screw the positioner (10) in towards the ram. Operate the pump to advance the ram until the
grub screw (11), in hole (y) is visible.
– Place the punch (90), into the ram (03) and align holes (x) and (y).
– Fit the grub screw (11) and fully tighten, to secure the punch (90).
– Release the oil pressure from the pump to retract the ram and punch.
– Removal of the punch is a reversal of the above sequence.
Note: always remove the die (91) before attempting to removing the punch (90).
5. DIE ASSEMBLY
– Release the oil pressure to fully retract the ram (03).
– Unscrew the grub screw (26).
– Check the identification on both the punch and the die, to ensure a matching set.
– Fit the die (91) into the head seating, ensuring that the annular groove is uppermost.
– Tighten the grub screw (26) to secure the die.
Note: to disassemble the die invert the order at the a.m. operations.
