DANGER
Risk of death caused by incorrect or incorrectly assembled components!
• Only use DT Swiss steerer expander (DT Swiss Art. FWXXXXXXXXXX46348S).
• If using a carbon steerer, check with the manufacturer whether the headset and stem
have been approved to be used with carbon steerers.
• Do not damage the crown and steerer during assembly.
DANGER
Risk of accident caused by damage resulting from add-on parts with sharp edges!
Installing parts with sharp edges can damage the fork.
• Ensure that none of the add-on parts such as the hub or thru axle etc. has sharp edges.

Shortening the steerer
DANGER
Danger of injury from carbon particles!
Fine carbon dust is produced when the steerer is being shortened. This can cause skin
irritation as well as irritation of the eyes and airways.
• Wear safety goggles, safety gloves and a mask.
1.
Tightly wrap adhesive tape around the cut-off point on the steerer to prevent the carbon
fibres from unravelling.
2.
Wear safety goggles, safety gloves and a mask.
3.
Clamp the steerer into a saw guide.
4.
Shorten the steerer with a hand saw using a saw blade for carbon.
5.
Completely remove the adhesive tape without using an aggressive cleaning agent.
6.
Carefully smooth the inside and outside of the cut edges of the steerer with abrasive paper.
