5 Handle
The handle (4) is available as an accessory,
Order No. 486 375.
5.1 Assembley
The handle supplied consists of two halves,
one shoulder pad, two additional grips and a
fastening segment.
Firstly, join the two halves of the handle
together. Put the thinner end (4.7) into the
barrel with the two-pointed prongs (4.1).
Push the nuts through both large holes (Ø
9 mm/4.2) and screw them in with the SW 5
Allen key (4.6). Now from the top of the barrel
push on the additional grips (4.5) and then
the pad (4.4).
Now place the fastening segment onto the
carpet remover gear housing (3.8). Hang the
wire clamps (3.7) to the right and left on the
hooks (3.9) next to the "ABWEISER" and close
the catches from behind (3.5).
Now connect the handle with the fastening
segment. Put the ridges (3.2) into the grooves
(3.3) on the fastening segment. Screw both
sides together with the washer and the Allen
key screw SW 6 (3.5).
5.2 Application
Depending on the size of the operator the ad-
ditional grips and the shoulder pad are placed
on the handle in such a way as to ensure
optimum removal at the best angle.
6 Carpet knife
A blunt carpet knife can easily be re-sharp-
ened, but if this is no longer possible, the
carpet knife (part no. 486 374) must be re-
placed. Undo the four screws (2.1), take of
the distance bushings (2.2), remove the dust
guard (2.4) and take out the old knife (3.3).
Put in the new blade in the reverse order, with
the fl at side of the blade facing upwards. Do
not forget to put back the dust guard as the
motor could become damaged.
7 Maintenance and care
Always remove the mains plug from
the socket before carrying out any
maintenance work.
To ensure adequate circulation of air, the
ventilation slots in the motor housing must
be kept clean and free of obstruction at all
times.
These tools are fi tted with special motor
brushes with an automatic cut-out. When the
brushes are worn down, the power supply is
shut off automatically and the tool comes to
a standstill.
10
All maintenance and repair work
for which it is necessary to open
the motor housing must be carried
out only by an authorized customer-
service workshop.
8 Disposal
Do not throw the power tool in your household
waste! Dispose of the machine, accessories
and packaging at an environmentally-re-
sponsible recycling centre! Observe the valid
national regulations.
EU only: European Directive 2002/96/EC
stipulate that used electric power tools must
be collected separately and disposed of at
an environmentallyresponsible recycling
centre.
