SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Before use read and follow the instructions in this chapter.
In this document, will be appointed by the word:
- "User" means a person properly trained, non-disabled and aged at least 18 years.
- "Device": broken concrete, drill or other material MAC3
- "Tool" peak, chisel or other accessory devices adapting to MAC3
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
• Before use, the potential users of pneumatic devices should:
- Having read and understood the safety and use of this document.
- Be aware of any local regulations
During use, users, or potential users of pneumatic devices must:
- Always follow the safety instructions and use of this document.
- follow the specific rules of the site or place of use.
Always use approved personal protective equipment.
Users and other persons present on the work area must wear personal protective
equipment including at least:
- Helmet.
- Hearing protection.
- eye protectors (goggles, masks ...) shock resistant with side shields.
- respirator, if necessary.
- Protective gloves.
- suitable protective boots or safety shoes with slip-resistant sole.
- Working resistant overalls or similar garment adjusted (even in bad weather) that
covers the arms and legs.
On the work area, keep away all those that can not be considered a user.
Do not wear rings, chains, bracelets that can be caught by moving parts of
equipment.
Do not use hazardous materials for maintenance or cleaning of equipment: diesel,
gasoline or any volatile products (risk of explosion).
Make sure that the handles are always clean and free of grease or oil.
Operators of pneumatic tools are exposed to dust particulates that can eventually
lead to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
The VDT system (Vacuum Dust Trapper) equipped with a filter compliant with THE
OSHA Standard 1926.1153, helps improving the comfort of use and reducing the
risks.
PRIOR TO START UP
For the pneumatic tool, check:
- The absence of cracks, fissures and flaking.
- All bolts or screw are properly tightened and state. (wearing part)
- That safety equipment are in place and in good condition.
- That the shifter and the latch holding the tool are in good working condition and
set correctly .
- The wear of the shank is not too large to avoid the risk of ejection of the tool and
other parts of the device.
For the accessory, check:
- That it meets the requirements of the manufacturer.
- The state and wear tails tools.
- it is properly sharpened
For the air hose, check:
- It is not cracked or does not have deep abrasions.
- It is not clogged.
- The good, the correct assembly and tightening of fittings to prevent them stand out
sharply during operation.
- That joints are in place and in good condition.
- That the headline used is the one recommended by the manufacturer.
UTILISATION
NEVER:
-Use the hammer in the raised position
-Activate the on/off trigger when the tool is raised (e.g. when changing the working
area)
- Pressurize an air hose which is not connected to the tool (except controlled purge
of the pipe).
- Use the unit or the accessories for a different purpose for which it was designed.
- Operate the unit-load (no tools or with a tool not fitted properly).
- Orient an air hose to oneself or to others (people or animals).
- Orient tool to oneself or to others (people or animals).
- Keep the device by the latch or the shifter.
- Handle tools without gloves (risk of burns).
- Put the instrument or tool on one foot.
- Put or maintain the device on or through the trigger (the risk of uncontrolled
startup).
- Leave a device on the ground in the dust, mud, water ...
- Move the tool by the hose coupling or air hose.
- Attempt to disconnect the air hose without closing the valve / supply valve and
purged the device completely and flexible air by pressing the trigger.
ALWAYS:
-Be always under pressure when the tool is used horizontally, so that it is always in
contact with the surface to be broken
-Be in contact to prevent the piston from being the only component to absorb the
shock
-Clean the compressed air hose before connecting the hammer
-Put some oil in the cylinder (type of oil: compressor oil for example) if the hammer
has not been used for a long period
-Use the appropriate picks or chisels in good condition
- Ensure that the operating pressure does not exceed 7 bar.
- Ensure that the pressure remains constant when using the device.
- Open the faucet / supply valve slowly.
- Install locking pins and / or use of safety cables for hoses, to prevent any risk of
disconnection.
- Ensure that there is no electric cable ducts, or other in the work area to avoid any
risk of contact with the device.
- Being in a stable position and hold the tool with both hands before starting.
- Make sure to keep a stable position during use.
- Direct the exhaust ports to prevent dangerous projections.
- Direct the exhaust to reduce the movement of dust in the direction of the
operator.
- Stop the machine before moving.
- Cut the pressure in case of accidental shutdown and check connections before
using the device.
- Cut air supply and unplug when not in use.
- Store protected from the elements.
- Keep away from children
USE - MAINTENANCE
Before and during use read and follow the instructions in the section above .
RECOMMENDATIONS
Before using :
- Ensure that the compressor is adequate for the flow necessary for the
recommended pressure for all devices used simultaneously.
- Bleed the air hose by opening gradually the power to eliminate condensation and
impurities.
- Ensure tools are in good condition and properly sharpened in order to limit
vibrations.
During usage :
-
Ensure that the pressure unit is 6 bar. If lower, check the pressure drop (length and
size of hose connections) and check the rating of the compressor.
- Let the machine do the work, do not press too hard. In the case of an anti-vibration
handle not push it up
- Avoid operating the hammer in an uplifted position, it may damage it.
MAINTENANCE
Daily checking
- Look of the tool
- Operation of the latch or clamp
- Operation of the handles
- Operation of the valve
- State of wear parts (latch, screws, etc.)
Yearly maintenance for all tools :
- Apply tallow on the valve shaft and joints
- For the piston, Put some oil in the fitting
Yearly maintenance for suspended tools :
- Removing the cover and control handles and springs..
- Grease the handle axel and the contact surfaces.
STORAGE
After lubrication, store the unit vertically, fitting down, and in a protected area.
• Any change to the device may cause physical injury to yourself or others. Never
modify the unit. Any modified tool is no longer covered by warranty or product
liability.
• Do not attempt to repair a unit yourself, call a service a certified MAC3 service
center.
• Only use spare parts, tools and original accessories approved by MAC3.
• Make damaged parts immediately replaced.
• Make quickly changed used parts.
