6.9 Overtime
1. If the match goes into extra time, both teams set up pyramids of 3.
2. The team that first hit the last cup of the opponent in the regular playing
time may start.
3. The applicable rules of the game also apply in extra time. The number of
extensions is unlimited.
6.10 Special rules
Same cup rule
1. If both players from the same team hit the same cup within one round, the
'same cup' rule applies.
2. Three cups must be drunk by the opposing team,
the cup hit as well as two cups chosen by the throwing team.
Death cup rule
3. Should a team member sink the ball into a cup that has already been hit
from the previous round of the same game but has not yet been drunk, this
is the 'death cup' rule.
Consequences of the death cup: The team that has been hit by the death
cup has lost immediately. The losing team must drink all the cups still on
the table.
Behind-the-back rule
4. If the thrown ball bounces off an opponent's cup in such a way that the ball
rolls back across the beer pong table to the thrower, the 'behind-the-back'
rule applies. That means he or she gets a free throw. The condition for this,
however, is that it is thrown behind the back.
5. If the opposing team picks up the ball as it is rolling back, the special rule
does not apply.
6. However, if the player hits a cup with his or her 'behind-the-back' throw,
the opposing team has to drink two cups.
