Special Safety Instructions

Always wear ear protectors
and heavy-duty footwear when
working with your power tool.
Working with the scraper
blade:
Splinters may be broken off
workpieces. Be aware of the
danger represented by the
sharp edges on the tool and
always wear protective goggles
and work gloves.
Dust from material such as paint containing lead,
some wood species, minerals and metal may be
harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may
cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory
diseases to the operator or bystanders.
Certain kinds of dust are classified as
carcinogenic such as oak and beech dust
especially in conjunction with additives for wood
conditioning (chromate, wood preservative).
Material containing asbestos must only be treated
by specialists.
- Use a dust extractor or the paper dust bag
holder if possible.
- To achieve a high level of dust collection, use
a suitable Metabo vacuum cleaner together
with this tool.
- The work place must be well ventilated.
- The use of a dust mask of filter class P2 is
recommended.
Follow national requirements for the materials
you want to work with.
Do not use the triangular
base-plate sander for wet
sanding.
Do not sand any areas saturated with liquids
containing solvents.
Do not sand any damp surface layers.
The working surface heats up during operation
and may give rise to poisonous vapours.

Pull the plug out of the socket before any making
adjustments, converting or servicing the machine.

Operation
Before initial use, check that the mains
voltage and mains frequency stated on
the rating plate match the figures for
your own mains supply.

Operate the slide-switch (1).

Fitting and removing "cling-fit"
sanding sheets
Fitting
Press the "cling-fit" sanding sheet (13) onto the
base-plate (10).
Removing
Pull the "cling-fit" sanding sheet (13) off the base-
plate (10).

Setting the orbital frequency
Turn the thumbwheel (2) and set the frequency
(setting to any frequency within range also
possible during operation).
Recommended orbital frequency settings

Adjusting the base-plate
You can adjust the angle of the base-plate in
60° increments, as required.
