Safety notes
Considerations of safety make it
necessary to point out that the following
specifications must be observed:
• the quick clamping column must be used only
on a firm and stable base
• when replacing individual components, only
original parts must be used
• the quick clamping column is intended only for
handling vertical forces
• the load which is to be handled should be
secured horizontally
• the inner tube must be changed if it is bent or if
it has buckled owing to excess load in the area
of the engagement of the knurled shaft
• the maximum load of 500 kg must not be
exceeded
• never use the quick clamping column for
supporting vertical loads without inserting a
safety bolt into the hole of the inner tube which
lies nearest to the actuating mechanism. If the
quick clamping system is unintentionally
released, there is otherwise nothing to prevent
the load from falling
• should the spring of the quick clamping column
fail for any reason, the quick clamping column
can no longer be used
• it is not permissible to extend the quick
clamping column, since there is then the risk of
the inner tube buckling to the side
• the quick clamping column must not be used as
a lever
• no holding devices of any kind what so ever
may be welded on.

Maintenance
So as to guarantee lasting and proper operation,
you should clean the inner tube at regular
intervals, e.g. with a rag soaked in petrol, and
then grease it.
The inner tube is greased at most at three
surfaces: the side at which the knurled shaft is
located must not be greased.
Do not grease the toothed parts, but only the
running surfaces of the knurled shaft. An ordinary
grease may be used for greasing.
When the equipment is used properly, the only
part subject to wear and tear becomes excessive,
it must be replaced.
Give the setting of the safety lever a regular
check. Depending on the wear and tear of the
inner tube, the grub screw must be reset in such
a way that the safety lever cannot fail to catch.
