PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION
The automatic pump sump cleaning system — known as
the APF-Cleaner system — is a pump control system
designed to supplement the normal control system in
either a single or dual pump installation.
The APF-Cleaner system is designed to control the pump
so that it will operate down to the lowest possible water
level in the sump, i.e. down to the level at which air is
drawn into the impeller. The pump will then be able to
pump away the grease and dirt that normally always
remain on the water surface. The action of entraining air
at low operating depths, also promotes a high level of
turbulence for a short period of the end of the pumping
cycle. The turbulence will stir up some of the dirt and
grease that normally collect on the sump floor, and these
pollutants will then also be pumped away. The removal of
both floating and settled solids during pumping reduces
routine maintenance and sump cleaning, such as
sparging and desludging, and significantly contributes to
improved pump reliability.

Display

The APF-Cleaner is provided with 6 LEDs to display the
following:
1. 24 VAC power supply (1)
2. Pump relay energized (2)
3. Cleaning during next pumping cycle (1)
A steady light indicates that cleaning will be carried
out the next time the pump is started. If this LED
flashes, the APF-Cleaner system will carry out no
cleaning. Check that switches 1 and 2 are in the
"normal" position.
4. Current indication (2)
A steady light indicates measurement via the current
transformer input.
- Slow flashing
Continuous slow flashing indicates that the current
level is not correctly adapted. Measure the current
and check the current transformer selected and the
number of turns of the phase conductor through the
transformer. The current from the transformer to the
APF-Cleaner system should be between 40 and 60
mA.
- Fast flashing
When the pump is stopped, the LED will flash at a
fast rate for about a second to indicate that the
reference current had been read in.
