tra charges, it is imperative to carefully monitor the unit.
• Your device meets the relevant safety regulations for IT equipment. If you have any questions as to whether the device
can be set up in the intended environment, please get in touch with your bintec-elmeg dealer or with the bintec-elmeg
Customer Support Department.
• The intended operation of the unit in keeping with European standard shall be ensured only when the unit cover has be-
en fitted (cooling, fire protection, radio interference suppression).
• The ambient temperature should not exceed +40 deg. Celsius (unless otherwise stated). Avoid exposure to direct sun-
light. Ensure sufficient cooling.
•
Make sure no foreign objects (such as paper clips) or liquids get into the inside of the unit (electric shock, short-cir-
cuit). In cases of an emergency (such as damaged housing or operating element, penetration of liquid or foreign ob-
jects), immediately interrupt the power supply at the socket and notify the Service Department.
• Make sure that ventilation slits and orifices of the unit are not blocked.
3.4 Local-area wireless network
• When the radio components are switched on, do not move the device into the vicinity of inflammable gases or into a po-
tentially explosive environment (such as paint shop) as the radio waves emitted may cause an explosion or fire.
• The reach of the radio link depends on environmental and ambient conditions.
• Data traffic by a wireless connection may permit unauthorised third parties to receive data. Depending on how critical the
safety of the data transmitted by WLAN are, carry out the necessary steps to secure your radio network.
3.5 GSM, 3G/ 4G networks
• Never install a SIM card when the device is switched on Always protect yourself against electrostatic discharge (ESD)
when inserting SIM cards.
• For devices with a GSM and 3G/4G wireless radio module: the antenna(s) used for this device must be installed in order
to provide a distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches) from the user.
• GSM and 3G/4G networks can interfere with other devices. Follow all specific regulations, and if you suspect that the de-
vice could cause interferences or provoke dangerous situations, switch it off immediately.
• Do not install the device where mobile telephones are prohibited or could cause interference or entail any kind of danger.
Please respect all restrictions on the use of RF equipment in gas stations, hospitals and chemical plants, etc.
• For specific medical devices we recommend a minimum distance of 20 cm between the wireless device and an implan-
ted medical device, such as a pacemaker or cardioverter defibrillator to avoid potential interference with the said medical
device. If you suspect that there is any interference, switch off the device immediately and remove it. Please consult the
manufacturers of these kinds of medical devices in order to ensure that our devices are appropriately used.
• Never install or connect GSM and 3G/4G devices inside any type of aircraft.
• As with any electric device, do not install the equipment in environments where inflammable gases or flames could pos-
sibly be generated or in potentially explosive atmospheres.
• Never install GSM and 3G/4G mobile devices in areas where blasting is being carried out.
• Given the fact that GSM and 3G/4G devices use radio signals, and that the mobile telephone networks cannot guarantee
connection under all possible conditions, you should never use a mobile telephone system as the only link in a critical
support communication.
3.6 Cleaning and repair
•
The unit may be opened by trained specialist staff only. For this reason, repairs of the unit should be carried out on-
ly by a service centre authorised by bintec-elmeg. Your dealer will tell you where the service centre is located. Unautho-
rised opening and improper repairs may result in considerable hazards for the user (such as electric shock). Unauthori-
sed opening of the unit shall void guarantee and liability of bintec elmeg GmbH.
•
Never use any water or liquid to clean the unit. Penetrating water may cause considerable hazards for the user
(such as electric shock) and considerable damage to the unit.
• Never use scouring agents, alkaline detergents, acidic or abrasive agents.
