GETTING READY
For best results, the boiler tubes should be cleaned while they are still warm.
Avoid condensation of water in the tubes caused by allowing the boiler to cool
down too much.
1. Thread the correct size brush onto the ferrule on the end of the steel tape.
2. Select a nozzle of the same size and connect it to the SAM-3 by twisting it
onto the pins. Securely tighten the four thumbnuts.
3. Attach the quick disconnect end of the hose to the SAM-3 and the other end
to the vacuum.
4. Plug the SAM-3 into a grounded outlet of the proper voltage. Plug the
vacuum into a separate circuit. (Do not plug both machines into the same
circuit.)
OPERATION
1. Start the vacuum and check for suction at the nozzle.
2. Insert the nozzle into the tube enough to support the weight of the machine
[about 3
/
" (76mm)]. Let the SAM-3 support itself in the tube – do not lift up.

3. Push the trigger forward and hold it until the brush reaches the opposite end
of the tube. The motor will speed up slightly when the brush leaves the tube.
Mark the tube length on the distance indicator (the red disc on the side of the
machine). Refer to this when cleaning the balance of the tubes.
4. When the motor has stopped, reverse the switch and hold until the brush
comes completely back into the machine.
WARNING: Running the steel tape all the way out to the end under power can
result in gear and/or tape damage.
