Preparing an
espresso - the most
important steps
Before you get to know the individual prepa-
ration steps and all the tips and tricks in the
following chapters, here is an overview of
the steps you need for every good espresso:
1. Select and insert the filter 1/2
2. Preheat the cup, filter 1/2 and brewing
head 14 (flushing)
3. Dry the portafilter 16 and the filter 1/2
4. Measure, flatten and press the espresso
powder (tamping)
5. Remove espresso powder residues from
the edge
6. Insert the portafilter 16
7. Extract a single or double espresso
8. As desired: froth the milk

Filling the water tank

WARNING! Risk of material dam-
age!
 Never put liquids other than fresh, cold
drinking water into the water tank 6!
NOTE: some water accumulates in the re-
cess under the water tank 6. Remove this
regularly with a dry, clean cloth.
Use fresh water every day.
1. Remove the water tank 6 upwards.
2. Open the lid 5 of the water tank 6.
3. Pour out any remaining water from the
water tank 6 and rinse the water tank
several times thoroughly with clean wa-
ter.
4. Fill the water tank 6 with fresh, cold tap
water at least up to the MIN marking
and at most up to the MAX marking.
5. Put the water tank 6 back in the ma-
chine. Please note that the two hooks
on the water tank must be placed in the
holder on the back of the device.
