Warning: for your safety, make always sure that
the material in which you install the anchor and
the anchor itself are suitable to hold the system
when drilling. Sometimes you may need more
than one anchor. In any case the anchor's thread
must be at least M12.
Read the instructions provided by the anchor
manufacturer and make sure that the anchor is
suitable for this use.
Follow these instructions:
once decided the position of the hole, identify the
position of the anchor. The closer the anchor is to the
column, the better the fastening is;
choose a proper anchor for the specific application
making sure that the thread is at least M12;
make a suitable hole for the anchor and insert it into
the hole. Then, tighten a proper threaded bar to the
anchor;
position the stand over the anchor inserting the bar
(figure 3 T) into the slot (I) on the base. Put the
washer (included in the package with your stand)
over the bar and tighten securely the nut (see figure
3). Make sure that the washer is securely engaged
with the base.
if needed, turn the G screws in order to adjust the
base.
Proper anchors are available among CARDI accessories.
Additional fastening with an adjustable prop
After having fixed the stand with an anchor, when possible,
the use of a prop is highly recommended. This is a very
effective method to further stabilizing the stand. An
explanation of this method is shown in figure 8 and 9.
This method does not take the place of the anchor, but must
be used together with it.
It can be applied only when, in front of the hole to be
performed, there is a sufficiently solid wall. For this reason,
this is a method easily to employ inside buildings.
There are two ways to obtain this additional fastening:
adjustable prop or scaffold-pipe
your drill stand is provided, as a standard, with a
fitting for scaffold pipe and prop F (figure 8)
Follow these instructions:
locate the position of the hole and of the
o
stand;
place the scaffold pipe or the prop between
o
the top of the column, so that it engages
with the fitting F, and the opposite surface.
Turn the fitting F until an enough push is
made against the surface;
screw the four leveling screw G, in order to
o
adjust the base.
adjustable prop accessory
to use the adjustable prop accessory (figure 9), is
necessary to mount the special fitting (L) on the top
of the column, as shown in figure 9a. Follow
afterwards
the
instruction provided
accessory.
Feed handle
The drilling process generates a considerable level of
vibration on the feed handle and consequently to tha hand of
the operator. Your stand is therefore equipped with a special
feed handle that feature a vibration reduction device. It
performs a substantial reduction of the level of vibration
transmitted to the hand.
The feed handle has a central slider (U), that activates and
deactivates the anti-vibration function:
to activate the anti-vibration function, pull the slider
toward yourself (figure 4a)
to deactivate the anti-vibration function, push the
slider into the handle (figure 4b)
Figure 4 shows how to mount the handle to the carriage shaft
(Q). You can mount the handle to the left or to the right side
of the carriage. Some models can be equipped with a feed
system that powers the travel of the carriage.
Locking the carriage
The carriage is equipped with a locking system (figure 5). The
carriage must be locked when you mount the core drill motor,
when you mount or replace the core bit or when you transport
the stand.
To engage the locking system, see figure 5.
Mounting the core drill motor
The core drill motor can be mounted to your stand in different
ways depending on your stand model. The motor can be
mounted to the carriage with a dove tail quick disconnect
system (figure 6) or using the collar (figure 7). Find out which
mounting system has your stand. The accessory in figure 7a
allows to mount a hand-held core drill (figure 7d) to stands
with quick disconnect system.
Dove tail quick disconnect system mounting
Proceed as follows, referring to figure 6:
lock the carriage;
loosen the two side-screws using the wrench
provided, as shown in figure 6a. Make sure you hold
the plate to prevent that it drops off;
remove the plate (6b);
position the square key into the slot on the underside
of the core drill motor and then position the plate on
it, making sure that the key goes into the
corresponding slot. Secure it by tightening at least 4
screws as shown in figure 6d. Make sure the core
drill motor is unplugged when you do these
operations;
position the core drill motor on the carriage, using the
dove system, as shown in figure 6e;
secure the motor by tightening the two side-screw
(6f).
To dismantle the plate, follow backwards the steps before,
making sure that you hold the motor when you loosen the
side-screws to prevent that it drops off.
Collar mounting
You can mount you core drill motor using the collar if you have
the accessory in figure 7a. Collar fastening is suitable if the
drilling diameter is below 160 mm.
The collar has been designed to clamp hand-held core drills
(fig. 7d). The diameter of the collar is 60 mm.
Proceed as follows:
Hand-held core drill clamping (figure 7):
with the
secure the accessory of figure 7a to the quick
disconnection plate tightening the 4 screws(figures
7b and 7c);
position the hand-held core drill into the collar as
shown in figure 7d;
tighten the screws of the collar, making sure that the
core drill is securely fastened.
