etting the meAsurement pArAmeteres

The roughness parameter, cut-off lengh and unit must be
set before measurement.
Press the power button (1). Press function key 2 (2) in or-
der to select the desired roughness parameter.
Ra (roughness mean average)
Roughness parameter. The average of the absolute value
of the profile deviations within the measured length.
Rq (root mean square of the surface roughness)
The root mean square of all ordinate values within the in-
dividual measured length.
Rz (average roughness depth)
The mean value of the individual roughness depths of
several consecutive measured lengths.
Rt (total height of the roughness profile)
The difference between the highest peak and the deepest
trough of the total measured length.
Press function key 1 (1) in order to select the desired cut-
off length parameter.

The breadth of the individual measurement length corre-
sponds to the cut-off length
dependent on the expected roughness of the workpiece's
surface. The cut-off length is selected dependent on the
workpiece surface, according to the expected roughness
values.

eAsurement process

During the measurement process,
the measuring probe moves up
and down the sampling length in a
linear motion. These movements are converted into elec-
tronic signals, amplified, filtered and transformed into
digital signals via an A/D converter. Then, the signals are
processed in the main processor and displayed as the
relevant set measured value on the OLED display.
Clean surface with a degreasing agent. Do not touch the
sensitive measuring probe with your fingers. Do not use
the roughness tester on oily or sticky surfaces. The sur-
face temperature may not exceed +85°C during meas-
urement.
