Aperture diaphragm

The Numerical Aperture (N.A.) value of the aperture dia-
phragm affects the image contrast. Increasing or reducing
this value one can vary resolution, contrast and depth of fo-
cus of the image.
1. Move the diaphragm lever ① (Fig. 11) toward left or right to
decrease or increase the N.A. value.
With low contrast specimens set the numerical aperture to
about 70%-80% of the objective's N.A. If necessary, remove
on eyepiece and, looking into empty sleeve, adjust the con-
denser's diaphragm in order to obtain an image like the one
in Fig. 12.

Use with rechargeable batteries

When the microscope is connected to the power supply the
batteries are recharged normally.
When the microscope is disconnected from the power sup-
ply, the batteries start operating by powering the microscope.
9.6

Battery replacement

1. Open the battery compartment placed in the lower part of the
frame. (Fig. 13)
2. Replace batteries, respecting polarity.
3. Close the battery compartment.
9.7

Use of the locking screw

The locking screw prevents the stage from rising above a certain
limit avoiding contact between the objective and the slide, so as
not to damage the lens and do not break the slide.
The screw is preset at the factory, but to adjust the position ac-
cording to your preferences, act like this:
1. Insert the highest magnification objective and focus the spec-
imen.
2. Unscrew the locking screw ② and raise the stage until the
objective is almost in contact with the slide. (Fig. 14)
3. Lock the locking screw.
