¾ Maintain the pole saw in good working
condition. Improper maintenance,
using non-compliant spare parts and
the removal or modification of safety
equipment can damage the device
and cause serious injury to the person
working with it. If this work cannot be
performed by the user, a specialist
dealer must be instructed to carry out the
work.
¾ Only clean or service the device if the
motor is stationary and also the cutting
tool.
¾ Before any work on the device, first
remove the operating arm with the
permanently installed power pack.
¾ Do not clean the device with water.
¾ Repair and service work as well as the
replacement of safety elements must
be performed by a qualified expert or
workshop.
¾ Wear safety gloves before any work on
the chain.
Always check the chain tension before each use
Î
and check it regularly when using the chainsaw for
long periods.
Regularly check the chain oil level.
Î
Arrange for the chain to be sharpened regularly by
Î
a service centre.
Once yearly, arrange for the tool to be inspected
Î
and serviced by a service centre.
Cleaning
Clean the power tool regularly after each use (and
Î
according to the usage conditions). If the tool is
not cleaned correctly, the outcome may by prop-
erty damage and malfunctions.
Switch the device off and wait until the cutting tool
Î
comes to a standstill before removing the oper-
ating arm.
After each use, clean the tool with a dry cloth or,
Î
in the event of heavy soiling, with a brush, paying
particular attention to the ventilation slots.
Carefully clean the cutting chain after each use.
Î
Regularly clean the oil guidance groove (chain
Î
running groove) on the bar using a soft brush.
After use, spray the chain with conditioning oil to
Î
ensure a long service life. Where possible, use an
environmentally friendly lubricant.

Transport and storage

¾ Before transport or storage, switch off
the device and wait until the cutting tool
comes to a standstill.
¾ Remove the operating arm before
transporting or storing the device.
¾ Always fit the protective cover before
transport and storage.
Transport
Secure the device sufficiently to prevent its unin-

tentional slipping if you are transporting it on or in
a vehicle.
Storage
Perform cleaning and servicing work before
Î
storage.
Store the tool in a dry location out of the reach of
Î
children.
When storing, ensure that no chain lubricating oil
Î
can run out.
Place the tool in an as horizontal as possible posi-

tion with the oil tank closure facing upwards.
If storing for longer periods (4 weeks or more), re-

move the chain lubricating oil, to prevent gumming
up of the lube oil pump.
Store the operating arm and pole saw separately.
Î
Store the operating arm in a cool and dry loca-

tion. Recommended storage temperature ap-
prox. 0 - 23°C
Keep the device and especially its plastic com-
Î
ponents away from brake fluids, petrol, mineral
oil containing products, penetrating oils etc. They
contain chemical substances that can damage,
attack or destroy the plastic components of the
device.
Fertilizers and other garden chemicals contain
Î
substances that may have a highly corrosive effect
on the metal parts of the tool. Therefore do not
store your tool near to these substances.
