8.3 Reassembling the Pump


WARNING: IMPACT HAZARD.
Do not place fingers between the mating surfaces
of the motor and the rear pump housing. The
magnetic force is powerful enough to rapidly pull
the impeller assembly and the rear pump housing
together. Failure to obey this warning could result
in death or serious injury.
1. Place the rear housing barrier o-ring in the groove
on the motor assembly and install the rear pump
housing. Press firmly to ensure a tight seal.
2. Insert the impeller shaft, aligning the flats on the shaft
with the flats in the ceramic thrust washer on one end
of the impeller shaft.
3. Place one of the rubber caps over the impeller shaft
to hold the ceramic thrust washer in place.
4. Insert the impeller shaft end with the rubber cap into
the rear pump housing. Make sure the impeller shaft
is completely seated in the rear pump housing.
5. Insert the impeller assembly into the rear pump
housing.
6. Install the front ceramic thrust washer aligning the
flats on the impeller shaft with the flats in the ceramic
thrust washer on one end of the shaft.
7. Place the remaining rubber cap over the impeller
shaft to hold the ceramic thrust washer in place.
8. Place the front cover o-ring in the groove in the rear
pump housing.
9. Place the front cover onto the rear pump housing.
Press firmly once aligned to ensure a tight seal.
10. Holding the pump housing with one hand, insert
and finger-tighten two front cover screws in opposite
locations.
11. Insert the remaining front cover screws and finger-
tighten.
12. Use a screwdriver to tighten all screws evenly using a
star pattern.

Do not over tighten.
