Ermenrich NT50 Thickness Gauge
EN
Getting started
Open the battery compartment cover (8) and insert 2 AAA batteries according to the correct polarity. Close the cover.
Single measurement
Hold the device at least 5 cm from the surface of the sample. The device will beep and the measured value will be displayed on the screen.
Quickly put the device down away from the sample. The device is ready to take the next measurement.
Continuous measurement
Switch on the device as described above and press it against the sample. Press (1). The Scn icon will be displayed on the screen. Lightly press
the device on the sample. The measured value will be updated on the screen.
After pressing the device on the sample, press (1) to exit the continuous measurement mode.
History records
Press (2) to save the measured value. When the memory is full, the FUL icon will appear on the screen.
Press (3)/(4) to see the history records. To delete a current record, press (1). To delete all of the records, press (1) and hold it for 3 seconds.
The device will beep 3 times and then go to the home screen.
Press (2) to exit the history records.
Acoustic alert
Press (1) to set the thickness limit. Adjust the value by pressing (3)/(4). Press (1) to save the limit value. When the measured value is beyond
the set limits, the icon UP or dn will be shown on the screen and the device will beep.
The setting order: upper limit -> lower limit.
Screen rotation
To rotate the screen 180°, press and hold (2) for 3 seconds.
Units of measurement
Press (3) and hold it for 3 seconds to switch between µm and mil.
Conversion ratio:
1mil = 25.4µm;
1µm = 0.03937mil.
Calibration
1. Zero point
•
The device is preset with a zero point suitable for common metals. Calibrate the device manually for more accurate measurements of
specific metals.
•
Once you have measured the sample one time, the value will be displayed on the screen and the device will beep. Press (4) and hold it
for 3 seconds to calibrate to zero. This measurement will be set as the default zero point. Repeat for more accurate calibration.
2. Reference points
By using standard calibration films in order of increasing thickness, you can make 6 additional calibrations. Each successive calibration film
should be approximately twice as thick as the previous one.
•
Press and hold (1) for 3 seconds to enter the calibration mode (fig. 1).
•
Measure each sample in sequence. After each measurement, the device saves the value, beeps twice, and moves on to the next point.
•
The thickness value of the respective point is displayed on the screen. If an obviously false value is displayed, use buttons (3)/(4) to
correct it and take the measurement again. After measuring point 6, the calibration mode will be closed automatically.
•
Setting order: 1 (0µm – zero point) -> 2 (50µm) -> 3 (100µm) -> 4 (250µm) -> 5 (500µm) -> 6 (1000µm).
•
To calibrate one point out of the six, select it by pressing button (1).
•
Press (1) to exit the calibration mode.
Note! Calibrate the device on one substrate only. When calibrating on non-ferrous materials, make sure there are no ferrous materials nearby.
