WARNING:
• Always switch off the appliance and disconnect the mains plug
from the socket before cleaning. Wait until the appliance has
cooled down.
• Never immerse the appliance or the base in water or other liq-
uids. This may result in electric shock or fire.
CAUTION:
• Do not use any wire brush or other abrasive objects.
• Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
• Clean the perforated area in the spout with a nylon brush
from the inside.
• Rinse out the water jug and the tea strainer with clear
water. Dry everything with a cloth.
• Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.
Decalcification
• The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends
on the hardness of the water and on how often the
appliance is used.
• If the appliance switches off before the water boils, it
probably needs to be decalcified.
Problem
The appliance does not function.
All of the lights on the tempera-
ture buttons flash.
The appliance switches off before
the water has boiled.
The appliance does not switch off. The lid is not closed.
The lights of all the buttons flash.

Cleaning
• Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available
decalcification agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use
the quantities stated in the instructions.
• After descaling the appliance boil fresh water in it several
times (approximately 3 – 4 times) in order to remove any
residues. Do not consume this water.
• Clean the appliance as described and allow it to dry.
• We recommend that you keep the appliance in the origi-
nal packaging if it will not be used for long periods.
• Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in
a dry, well ventilated place.
Mains Cable Take-Up Appliance
The mains cable can be wound up on the base.
Troubleshooting
Possible Cause
The appliance has no power supply.
The appliance is faulty.
The appliance becomes overheated after
operating without or with too little water.
The heating base is severely calcified
or the electric circuit of the socket is
overloaded.
A fault in the electronics.
Storage
Remedy
Check the socket with another appliance.
Plug in the mains plug correctly.
Check the main circuit breaker.
Contact our service centre or a specialist.
Take the kettle from the base.
Rinse out the kettle with cold water.
Allow the appliance to cool for 15 minutes.
Descale the appliance as instructed.
Check the mains connection.
Close the lid until it locks into place.
