Field of application
The Boguard impressed-current electronic anodes, fitted with a system that automati-
cally adjusts the protection potential, protect exposed surfaces from corrosion – up to
7% of the internal surface of the steel tanks and storage tanks enamelled with plastic
resins or vitrified – up to a capacity of 3000 litres.
Containers used for hot, drinking water (storage tanks and tanks) have a coating to
provide passive protection against electrochemical corrosion favoured by water. Con-
sidering that basically there is no passive anti-corrosion protection capable of providing
100% protection for the walls of a tank, an additional active barrier, called cathode
protection (DIN 4753 part 6) is required.
The traditional active protection system consists of magnesium anodes called sacri-
ficial anodes, which are still affected by inconveniences. As the magnesium anodes
wear out, they need to the replaced periodically and, in any case, over time the anode's
