GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
7.
This appliance must be grounded. In the event of malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least
resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120V
circuit and is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug
must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local
codes and ordinances. A qualified electrician should be consulted if there is any doubt as to whether an outlet
box is properly grounded.
THIS APPLIANCE IS FOR USE ON A NOMINAL 120V CIRCUIT, AND HAS A GROUNDING PLUG
THAT LOOKS LIKE THE PLUG ILLUSTRATED IN SKETCH A IN FIGURE 1. A TEMPORARY
ADAPTER, WHICH LOOKS LIKE THE ADAPTER ILLUSTRATED IN SKETCHES B AND C, MAY BE
USED TO CONNECT THIS PLUG TO A 2-POLE RECEPTACLE AS SHOWN IN SKETCH B IF A
PROPERLY GROUNDED OUTLET IS NOT AVAILABLE. THE TEMPORARY ADAPTER SHOULD BE
USED ONLY UNTIL A PROPERLY GROUNDED OUTLET CAN BE INSTALLED BY A QUALIFIED
ELECTRICIAN. THE GREEN COLORED RIGID EAR, LUG AND THE LIKE, EXTENDING FROM THE
ADAPTOR MUST BE CONNECTED TO A PERMANENT GROUND SUCH AS A PROPERLY
GROUNDED OUTLET BOX COVER. WHENEVER THE ADAPTER IS USED, IT MUST BE HELD IN
PLACE BY THE METAL SCREW.
NOTE:
Grounding adapters are not allowed in
Canada by the Canadian Electrical code.
DANGER:
the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a
risk of electric shock. The conductor with
insulation having an outer surface that is green
with or without yellow stripes is the equipment-
grounding conductor. If repair or replacement of
the cord or plug is necessary, do not connect the
equipment-grounding conductor to a live terminal.
Check with a qualified electrician or serviceman if
the grounding instructions are not completely
understood, or if in doubt as to whether appliance
is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug
provided with the appliance - if it will not fit the
outlet; have a proper outlet installed by a qualified
electrician.
POWER CORD SAFETY
8.
An outdoor-use extension cord should be used. An
outdoor-use extension cord is marked with the
suffix letter "W" and with a tag stating "Suitable
for Use with Outdoor Appliances" Care must be
exercised in its use.
The marked electrical rating of the detachable
power-supply cord or extension cord should be at
least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance, see chart for recommended gauges.
The extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire
cord, and should be arranged so that it cannot be tripped
over, snagged, or pulled on unintentionally (especially
by children).
Improper connection of
Store appliance indoors when not in use. Keep
out of reach of children.
Do not clean this appliance with a water
spray or the like, see maintenance
instructions for cleaning of the mixer
drum.
Do not use multiple extension cords.
Do not use over a 145 ft (44.2 m) cord.
Do not use a cord gauge of less than 16
AWG
The connection to an extension cord
should be kept dry and off the ground.
