Never use chemical substances or detergents (e.g.
perfumed water, essences, descaling solutions, etc).
Do not use mineral water or other types of water (e.g.
rainwater, water for batteries, conditioners etc.)
Important!
If you use filtering devices, make sure the water obtained has
a neutral pH.
Using the appliance for the first time
• The first time you use the iron, remove the plate protection
(if present).
• When used for the first time, the appliance may give
off smoke and an odour for several minutes. This is
caused by heating and subsequent drying of the se-
alers used in assembling the appliance.
You are recommended to ventilate the room.
• Always place the steam regulator on
reservoir (fig. 2).
Ironing tips
The original appearance and softness of fabrics such as velvet or wool, or
gloves, bags etc. can be restored by passing the iron a short distance away
with the steam jet in operation.
Do not rest or use the iron on zips, hooks, rings etc to avoid scratching the
sole plate.
Separate clothes according to the recommended ironing temperature and
begin ironing with items requiring the lowest temperatures.
Silk may be dry-pressed on the reverse.
Wool, cotton and fine linen can either be steam-ironed on the reverse or on
the right side, interposing a thin cloth between the iron and the fabric to
avoid "shine".
Starched fabrics require greater moisture.
Iron whites and light colours on the right side and dark colours on the rever-
se. Embroidery should also be ironed on the reverse to make it stand out.
To obtain a good steam jet, wait a few seconds between
one burst of steam and the next.
The no-drip system automatically shuts off steam pro-
duction when the temperature is set too low to prevent
the plate from dripping.
Please note:
We recommend to empty the water tank after use.

Auto-off
(*Certain models only)
• If the iron is left unused in a horizontal position for 30 sec-
onds, it goes off automatically.
• If the iron is not used in an upright position, the auto-off
device trips after 8 minutes.
To begin ironing again, shake the iron slightly forwards until
the light (B) comes on steadily.
Self Clean (page 5)
before filling the
Over time, the lime in the water causes scale to build up inside
the iron. To prevent the scale reducing steam production, you
should perform the "Self Clean" procedure every two weeks.
Proceed as described on page 5:
• Place the steam regulator on
voir (fig. 17).
• Plug the appliance into the mains and place the thermostat
in the MAX position (fig. 18). . The "steam ready" light co-
mes on;
• When the "steam ready" light goes off (the iron is at tempe-
rature) (fig. 19), unplug the appliance from the mains (fig.
20).
• Hold the appliance over a sink, press the SELF CLEAN button
and, holding the button down, shake the iron delicately
forwards and backwards (fig. 21). Residues of scale and
other impurities mixed with boiling water come out of the
sole plate.
• Release the SELF CLEAN button.
• Plug the appliance into the mains socket and leave in ope-
ration for at least two minutes to dry the plate (fig. 22).
• Unplug the appliance from the mains socket and wipe the
sole plate with a cloth to remove any residues (fig. 23).
• Leave the iron to cool down completely, then put away (fig.
24).
