5. Commissioning, operation
Installation with surface mounting flange
1. Place the bores onto the wall of the air duct provided (see figure below) by means of the
surface mounting flange dimensions.
2. Insert the stem of the thermometer into the centre bore, until the surface mounting
flange lies flat on the air duct wall. Fix using the appropriate screws and screwdriver.

5.3 Heat dissipation error
Heat dissipation errors occur if the area where the temperature is to be measured is so
small, that the mass of the temperature probe acts noticeably as thermal capacity. Such a
phenomenon may also occur if the insertion depth is insufficient, if the mounting fittings are
connected to a good thermal conductor (steel plates or similar) and there is a considerable
difference in temperature between the temperature to be measured and the temperature of
the mounting element.
5.4 Indicator check
Indicator checks should only be carried out in comparison with a more accurate instrument
or with a calibrated instrument. The temperature during the check must remain constant.
Fluctuating temperatures can lead to reading errors caused by the different response times
of the probes.
With thermometers without thermowells, with a full and correct insertion length, a
minimum waiting time of 10 minutes should be maintained for temperature equalisation.
With thermometers with thermowells, with a full and correct insertion length, a minimum
waiting time of > 15 minutes should be maintained for temperature equalisation.
The indicator should be checked once or twice every year.
