11.3 Mounting the Barrier Bar
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury from loss of
control or contact with the cutting attachment, use a metal
grass blade or brush knife only if the unit is equipped with a
loop handle, barrier bar and harness.
To mount the barrier bar:
► Switch off the power tool, @ 15.2.
► Remove the connecting cord, @ 14.2.

► Insert the square nuts (2) in the barrier bar (1) and line up
the holes.
► Position one clamp (5) in the loop handle (3).
► Position the other clamp (7) against the drive tube and line
up the holes in the loop handle and clamps.
► Place the barrier bar (4) in position over the holes in the
loop handle.
► Insert the screws (8) and tighten them down securely.
Ensure that the handle and barrier bar are tight and will
not move during operation.

11.4 Mounting and Removing a Deflector
11.4.1 Mounting a Deflector
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury from thrown objects or contact
with the cutting attachment, never operate the trimmer /
brushcutter without a properly mounted deflector. Keep
bystanders at least 50 ft. (15 m) away. When using a
deflector designed for use with a metal cutting blade, you
must change the deflector or add a skirt before mounting a
mowing head.
WARNING
The cutting attachment and deflector must be an approved
combination. Use only an approved combination of cutting
attachment and deflector to maximize cutting performance
and reduce the risk of serious personal injury from thrown
objects or contact with the cutting attachment, @ 25.
All deflectors are mounted to the gearbox in the same way.
To mount a deflector:
► Switch off the power tool, @ 15.2.
► Remove the connecting cord, @ 14.2.

► Push the deflector (1) into the guides on the gearbox until
it stops. The deflector must be tight against the gearbox.
► Insert and tighten the screws (2). Ensure that the deflector
is tight and will not move during operation.
