6.4 Validate the probe calibration
Chemical exposure hazard. Obey laboratory safety procedures and wear all of the personal protective
equipment appropriate to the chemicals that are handled. Refer to the current safety data sheets
(MSDS/SDS) for safety protocols.
Chemical exposure hazard. Dispose of chemicals and wastes in accordance with local, regional and
national regulations.
Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure. Exposure to UV light can cause eye and skin damage. Do not look
directly into the measurement path when probe is in operation. Protect eyes and skin from direct
exposure to UV light. Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment.
Do the steps that follow to validate the probe calibration.
1. Go to the main menu, then select Sensor setup.
2. Select the applicable sensor, if necessary.
3. Select Maintenance.
4. Set the outputs on Hold.
5. Remove the probe from the tank or flow through unit.
6. Rinse the measuring path with distilled water.
7. Prepare the probe as follows:
a. Fully clean and dry the back hole area and apply tape to cover the hole of the measuring path.
Refer to the illustrated steps in
Note: Make sure that no soluble compounds touch the medium that fills the measuring path.
b. Turn the probe until the measuring path is in the horizontal position.
c. Purge the measuring path with 10 mL of standard solution.
d. Fill the measuring path with standard solution.
8. Go to the signals menu as follows:
• SC200 and SC1000 Controllers—Go back to the sensor menu, then select DIAG/TEST >
Signals.
• SC4500 Controller and Claros interface—Go back to the sensor menu, then select
Diagnostics/Test > Signals. Select Enter to start the measurement.
9. Examine the values that show on the controller display:
• The first line (first three lines for the NT3200sc) shows the values from the user calibration
(offset, factor, signal average and matrix calibration for the NT3200sc, if applicable).
• The next line (next three lines for the NT3200sc) shows the values from the factory calibration
(factor, offset or matrix calibration).
Remove the tape and make sure that the back hole of the measuring path is free.
10. Install the probe in the tank or flow through unit.
11. Select Back.
12. Complete the instructions on the display.
