or Rechargeable (Nickel Cadmium, Nickel
Metal Hydride, or Lithium-Ion) batteries.
6. Do not dispose of batteries in fi re.
7. Batteries should be recycled or disposed of
as per state, provincial and local guidelines.
When shipping or disposing of batteries and
cordless tools, always ensure that they are
packed individually in plastic bags to prevent
short circuits and fi res.
General safety instructions
Danger! This chain saw is a special type of chain
saw intended specifi cally for tree care. During
use, the rear handle should be held in the right
hand and the front handle should be held in
the left hand. It should only be operated by fully
trained users applying carefully defi ned safe
working practices to remove branches and to cut
off the tops of standing trees. Persons using the
chain saw must have read and understood the
safety requirements contained in the operating
instructions, and they must wear appropriate
personal protective equipment (PPE).
The chain saw must only be operated by persons
who are fully trained for this type of chain saw.
The user must be trained in all manual chain saw
work skills. The chain saw is only intended for
work on trees under these defi ned conditions.
This chain saw is not intended for use in other
types of applications.
Danger!
1.1 Explanation of the symbols and warning
signs on the machine (Fig. 18)
1. Read the operating instructions before you
use the chain saw.
1.2 Recommended operation for safe sawing
(Fig. 19)
Danger!
1. Avoid contact with the tip of the bar (chain
return point).
2. Hold the saw fi rmly with both hands. Place
your right hand on the rear handle and your
left hand on the front handle.
1.3 Protection from kickback
Danger! Kickback can result in a dangerous loss
of control over the chain saw, which can in turn
lead to serious injury to the operator or anyone
standing nearby. Be alert at all times. Kickback
due to a revolving chain or trapped saw is one of
the main hazards of a chain saw and the primary
cause of most accidents.

KICKBACK can occur if the NOSE or TIP of the
chain bar (chain sprocket) touches an object or
the chain saw gets trapped in the wood while
cutting.
If the tip of the bar touches something, the chain
bar could be catapulted upward at lightning speed
back towards the operator.
If the chain saw gets TRAPPED along the
BOTTOM EDGE of the chain bar, it can PULL
forward away from the operator.
If the chain saw gets TRAPPED along the UPPER
EDGE of the chain bar, it can be CATAPULTED
quickly back toward the operator.
In both cases you can lose control over the saw
and suff er serious injury.
Beware of the following:
Rotary recoil (Fig. 20)
A = Recoil distance
B = Recoil reaction zone
Impact/trapping kickback and pulling
reactions (Fig. 21)
A = Impacts
B = Solid objects
C = Pulling
To prevent pulling reactions, place the wood you
wish to cut against the claw stop. Use the claw
stop as a pivot point during cutting.
1.4 Safety information
Danger! When working with cordless tools, it is
essential to adhere to the following basic rules in
order to reduce the risk of physical injury and/or
damage to the machine.
Read the instructions before starting up the saw,
and store them in a safe place.
1. Do NOT use the saw if you are tired, ill or
under the infl uence of alcohol and/or drugs.
2. Wear non-slip shoes, close-fi tting clothing,
work gloves, goggles, ear defenders, leg
protection and a head guard suitable for
climbing trees.
3. There must be NO other people nearby when
you start the chain saw or cut with it. Take
measures to prevent spectators and animals
from entering the work area.
4. When the battery is fi tted, all parts of the
body must point away from the chain saw.
5. NEVER use a chain saw which is damaged,
incorrectly set or incomplete and loosely
assembled. Make sure that the chain saw
