Cooling System Test Kit
The cooling system is pressurised using the hand pump (1) and various adapters. The system can
thus be checked for any leaks.
Included:
Hand pump with pressure gauge, adapter (5x), extension hose
Safety advice:
Caution when the cooling system is hot!
Upon removal of the cap, hot water or steam may be ejected – risk of burns!
To avoid erroneous measurements, subject the hand pump to a self-test
before use. Build up pressure by pumping while observing the pressure gauge (2). The pump should
7
maintain the pressure. Then release the pressure by operating the relief valve (3).
• Remove the cap of the expansion tank or radiator.
• Attach the appropriate adapter to the tank/radiator.
• Use the extension hose (4) for places that are hard to reach.
• Connect the hand pump to the adapter.
• Pump up a pressure of 1.0 to 1.5 bar (note the specifi cations of the vehicle manufacturer).
Do not load the pressure gauge beyond its end value!
• If the pressure remains constant, there is no leakage.
If a pressure drop is seen, this indicates a leak in the cooling system.
• If so, locate the leakage.
• Be sure to release the pressure by opening the relief valve before removing the hand pump!
