TURNING THE TRIMMER ON
Once the unit is plugged in and you are ready to start trimming, simply push the
unit's safety trigger forward with your thumb while pulling up on the trigger (under
the handle) with your fingers. See Figure 6. The thumb safety switch is only for
starting the unit and can be released during trimming. To turn off the unit, re-
lease the trigger and the thumb switch will snap backward to prevent the trigger
switch from being accidentally depressed.
USING THE LOCK-ON FEATURE
The unit is equipped with a lock on button that allows the unit to run continuously
without holding the trigger. NOTE: It is recommended that this feature is only used
when cutting long rows of flat level hedges.
To utilize this feature, please do as follows:
With the unit running,
press the lock-on button in until it is flush with the unit's
housing and release the main trigger. See Figure 7. The lock-on button will stay
in and the unit will continue to run. You may need to adjust your grip to avoid
inadvertently disengaging the lock-on feature. To turn the lock-on feature off,
simply squeeze and release the trigger.

TRIMMING INSTRUCTIONS AND TECHNIQUES
Always keep the extension cord away from the trimming area. Make sure the
extension cord is behind the trimmer. If you cut or damage the cord, unplug it
immediately. AFTER the cord is unplugged, inspect it for damage and repair or
replace it if necessary.
Maintain proper balance at all times. Keep hands away from blades. Wear eye
protection when using the unit. Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands and
turn ON. See Figure.
Do not use the trimmer with wet growth or in the rain.
A wide sweeping cutting motion away from the body in a single direction is
recommended. Allow the trimmer to proceed naturally as it cuts the growth –
do not force the trimmer.
This unit should NOT be used to cut limbs that are greater in diameter than
the opening on the unit's blades. Model RH30 can cut up to a 1/2" limb while
Model RH36 can cut up to a 3/4" limb.
• Watch out for foreign objects. Avoid trimming near wiring or other objects such as
chain link fences that could jam the blades or cause a hazardous situation.
• When trimming the sides of a hedge, begin at the bottom and sweep up.
• Be careful to avoid cutting your leg(s) when trimming below your waste.
CAUTION: If the blades become jammed or stalled on a branch, stick, or foreign
object, release the trigger immediately. Failure to stop the unit when the blades are
jammed may cause excessive damage to the unit's motor and void the warranty.
Clearing Jams
CAUTION: To prevent injury, keep hands away from trigger during clearing of jams.
For added safety, it is recommended that you disconnect the power cord from the
unit before clearing the blade. To prevent injury, do not use the ReadyHedger
any damaged parts. If the unit continues to jam, call the service number listed be-
low.
After the blades have completely stopped, carefully remove the obstruction
.
REMEMBER THAT THE BLADES COAST AFTER THE UNIT IS TURNED OFF!
MAINTENANCE
BLADE CLEANING – WARNING: To prevent injury unplug unit and keep hands
away from the trigger before performing any maintenance to unit or blades.
After you have finished trimming, you may find that dirt and vegetation have
accumulated on the blades. Use a dry scrub brush to clean debris off of
blades. A penetrating oil spray can be used to soften hard deposits.
