N40-5GT
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The N40
GT helmet can be used in 8 different configurations. It features three
5
elements (visor, removable protective chin guard and peak) which can be assem-
bled on the product jointly, in pairs, separately or be removed altogether (Fig. 1).
Using the helmet in the configurations featuring the chin guard fastened and visor
pulled down definitely guarantees a higher level of protection if compared with
the other possible configurations.
The chin guard locking slot covers - which have to be assembled if the helmet is
used without chin guard - are included in the box.
Peak and side plates - which have to be assembled if the helmet is used without
visor - are available on the product itself, in the box or otherwise as accessory /
spare parts - depending on the version of the product.
LATERAL LATCHES
1.
LATERAL LATCHES DISASSEMBLY
1.1 Release the left safety cover from its lateral latch pulling it outwards - without
removing it (Fig. 2A).
WARNING: pulling excessively the cover while releasing it from the latch may
cause damage to the cover or to the latch.
1.2. Turn the latch with the cover released upwards (Fig. 2B).
1.3. Remove the latch with the cover from the helmet by pulling it outwards so that the
latch inner bayonets "A" come out of their housing in the side mechanism (see Fig. 3).
1.4. Follow the same steps on the right side of the helmet.
2.
LATERAL LATCHES ASSEMBLY
2.1. Place the left side latch with its cover on the visor mechanism and insert the inner
bayonets "A" in their special housing in the side mechanism (Fig. 3).
2.2. Rotate the latch with its cover towards the rear part of the helmet (Fig. 2B). Fix
the latch by positioning the safety cover (Fig. 2A). Make sure the cover is firmly
attached to the latch.
2.3. Follow the same steps on the right side of the helmet.
WARNING
-
Always ensure that the latches and the safety covers have been correctly assem-
bled and that they grip well to the side mechanisms.
-
If your configuration of the helmet includes the visor and/or the peak try to activate
them (see instructions below) and check that the latches remain still in their position.
-
Regardless of the configuration and accessories assembled on the helmet, never
use the helmet without having assembled the lateral latches correctly.
-
Never remove the side mechanisms from the shell.
-
Should any of the side mechanisms fail or be damaged, please refer to a Nolan-
group authorized dealer.
PEAK
(Available as standard or accessory/spare part).
The peak can be assembled over the visor or, in absence of the latter, over the side
plates.
16
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
The peak can also be adjusted in two positions by turning it upwards or downwards
(Fig. 4).
WARNING
When riding on the road, the peak must be adjusted to the highest position "0"
(Fig. 4).
3.
PEAK DISASSEMBLY
To disassemble the peak first remove the lateral latches - see instructions above.
Remove the peak from the side mechanisms so that the peak inner bayonets "B" come
out of their housing (Fig. 5).
Reassemble the lateral latches - see instructions above.
4.
PEAK ASSEMBLY
To assemble the peak first remove the lateral latches (see instructions above).
4.1. Place the left side of the peak on the corresponding side mechanism and insert
the inner bayonets "B" in their special housing in the side mechanism (Fig. 5).
4.2. Reassemble the left lateral latch (see instructions above).
4.3. Follow the same steps on the right side of the helmet.
WARNING
-
The peak can be assembled over the visor or, in absence of the latter, over the side
plates.
-
When riding on the road, the peak must be adjusted to the highest position "0"
(Fig. 4).
-
Check that the mechanisms work properly and that the lateral latches have been
correctly assembled. Rotate the peak upwards or downwards making sure that
the mechanisms hold it in the two different positions. If necessary, repeat the
above-mentioned steps.
-
Do not force the peak over its end positions. This may cause damages to the peak,
mechanisms or lateral latches.
-
Do not use the helmet if the peak and the latches have not been assembled prop-
erly.
-
If the peak is assembled over the visor check the performance of the visor itself by
lifting up and lowering it completely.
NOTE: In this configuration, i.e. with the peak assembled over the visor, during
the last phase of the visor opening, the visor reaches the peak which must rotate
further until it reaches a higher position than "0" (Fig 6). During the closing of the
visor, the peak must remain in the maximum open position previously reached -
higher than the "0" position - and thereafter must be automatically shifted down-
wards along with the visor - positioning itself and remaining stable in the "0" posi-
tion.
-
Do not remove the side mechanisms from the shell.
-
Should any of the side mechanisms fail or be damaged, please refer to a Nolan-
group authorized dealer.
